After eight years of marriage, actors Sanjeeda Sheikh and Aamir Ali announced their divorce in 2020, which was formalized the following year. Now, an interview they conducted while still married has attracted attention for Sheikh's sympathetic depiction of Ali's development as a companion and person.

Sanjeeda Sheikh opens up on how Aamir Ali changed after their marriage; says, “He was never an expressive person”

“I have known him for the last 10 years. He has changed a lot since we got married. He was never an expressive person, and I think I have helped him become one. I am very vocal about my feelings and wanted my partner to be the same,” she said during a 2016 chat with Hindustan Times. “Now, he has become an expert at surprising me. For me, romance is all about spending quality time with your partner. When we were dating, after shooting for 16 hours, I would ensure that I spent at least one hour with him every few days.”

Aamir Ali shared Sanjeeda Sheikh’s comments, stating that he admired her cheerful outlook on life the most. “I love his honesty and the way he treats me. I want him to remain the way he is. My friends tell me that they want a boyfriend or a husband like Aamir,” she added.

Sanjeeda and Ali married in March 2012, amidst their great careers and rapidly became one of the television industry's most popular couples. Even the announcements that the couple had given birth to their daughter Ayra Ali via surrogacy was met with joy from followers all across the world. Nonetheless, despite the fact that their voyage has come to an end, fans continue to support for the two stars, as evidenced by Sheikh's great praise for her role in director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period drama series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar.
