Its the second week of 2014 with two films releasing today. While one is DEDH ISHQIYA, a sequel to the much liked ISHQIYA, the other is YAARIYAN that features a band of new-comes including the director Divya Khosla Kumar. Contrary to expectations, the Madhuri Dixit, Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi starrer DEDH ISHQIYA opened on a rather dull note across the country as compared to YAARIYAN that has fetched a decent start.
Reports suggest that while YAARIYAN has opened to an almost 60 -70% occupancy rate across the country, DEDH ISHQIYA has managed a meager 20 - 30% opening. Apparently, the youth centric theme of YAARIYAN has managed to strike a chord with the young college going audience, eventually translating into overall footfalls at theatres. As for DEDH ISHQIYA, despite the positive reviews, the film will have to rely heavily on strong word of mouth since a movie targeted at the classes generally tends to pick up from evening show onwards.
