This week, we see the release of yet another bio-pic in the form of the film SARBJIT and a big ticket Hollywood release X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. While the first that features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Randeep Hooda and Richa Chadha is said to be a content driven film, the latter is yet another film in the popular superhero franchise X-MEN.
Reports suggest that SARBJIT despite being based on a topic that still remains close to the heart of many among the audience, the film has got off to a rather slow start with occupancy rates during morning shows being pegged at 20%. On the other hand, the multi superhero film X-MEN: APOCALYPSE has taken off on an average note with approximately 40% occupancy rate. Dealing with the story of an individual who hails from northern India, SARBJIT is expected to fare better in these territories, but it will face an uphill task with competition coming from the Punjabi release KAPTAAN. Similarly in other territories as well, SARBJIT will face stiff competition from X-MEN: APOCALYPSE that has been dubbed in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
On the whole, SARBJIT that has received positive reviews will have to rely heavily on good word of mouth to entice viewers to cinema halls and post decent box office figures.
