The star presence of Akshay Kumar coupled with the aggressive promotion undertaken prior to its release helped OMG - OH MY GOD! take a lead over its rival KAMAAL DHAMAAL MALAMAAL at the ticket window. Although the opening of OMG - OH MY GOD! was in 30% to 40% range, not a great start definitely, the factor that goes in its favor is the strong word of mouth, which should help see a momentum in its business. Especially on Saturday and Sunday, when family audiences come out in large numbers.
On the other hand, KAMAAL DHAMAAL MALAMAAL embarked on an extremely dull start, with pockets of Maharashtra opening better than the rest of the country. The film will have to show an enormous growth in business over the next two days, if it has to survive.
