This is no April Fool's joke! The Friday witnessed the release of two significant films - GAME and F.A.L.T.U. - but it was not GAME, but F.A.L.T.U. that stole the march at the box-office. By leaps and bounds. In fact, F.A.L.T.U. was off to a super start from the opening show itself, while the opening numbers of GAME were so sad that not just its producers, but also its distributors must've got a rude shock this morning. The initial trends were: F.A.L.T.U. 50% to 70% to 80% opening, while GAME was 3% to 5% to maximum 10% opening.
You may find this hard to believe, but the initial figures of GAME are at par, or even lower, than Abhishek's last release KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY at places.
Gurgaon, Indore, Jaipur, Pune, Ahmedabad, Delhi… the trend everywhere was the same. A prominent distributor of C.I. sms-ed, "Opening of F.A.L.T.U. is ten times bigger than GAME," while a top notch Rajasthan distributor sent this text message, "GAME washout, F.A.L.T.U. 50% to 60% opening."
What comes as a surprise is that producer Vashu Bhagnani had approached several directors with the script of F.A.L.T.U., but none of them were keen on making it. That's when Vashu decided to start KAL KISSNE DEKHA instead. It was evident that F.A.L.T.U. would embark on a good start thanks to the popularity of not just 'Chaar Baj Gaye', but also 'Fully Faltu', 'Bhoot Aaya' and 'Le Ja' songs. But the more-than-expected start of the film must've come as a surprise to the producer and his actor-son Jackky.
