The Akshay Kumar starrer Samrat Prithviraj directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi was released yesterday across 3750 screens [Hindi: 3550 + Tamil + Telugu: 200] across India. Also starring Manushi Chhillar, Sanjay Dutt, and Sonu Sood the historical drama has been heavily promoted in the run-up to its release. In fact, the makers of the film along with Akshay pulled out all stops to ensure the film’s success. Thanks to this, the film collected Rs. 10.7 cr. on Day 1.
Now on day 2, reports suggest that Samrat Prithviraj has seen occupancy of 30% across the morning and early afternoon shows. If that wasn’t all, spot booking for the film has also seen an increase in mass-dominated and single screen dominated sectors. Interestingly, in terms of collections, Samrat Prithviraj could see a 15-20% increase in overall business as compared to its opening day collections.
On the whole, Samrat Prithviraj has received a mixed response from the audience and will need to see an increase in footfalls in metros and multiplex-dominated sectors to stand a chance of posting higher than expected collections. As of now, going by the trend, trade predictions state that Samrat Prithviraj could see around Rs. 12.5 cr. coming in on its second day.
