It was clear before the release of Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback film Pathaan that the movie would have a strong opening at the box office. But what the film has achieved is unprecedented. The Siddharth Anand directed spy action movie scored as much as Rs. 55 crores on its opening day in India, which is the highest for any Hindi film. If we count the film’s Tamil and Telugu versions’ numbers, the domestic numbers go up to Rs. 57 crores.
And now, Pathaan has also succeeded in garnering the highest gross number worldwide with Rs. 106 crores on Day 1 itself. The news was shared by the film’s production house Yash Raj Films on its official Instagram page. They captioned it, “A historic record created.”
But Pathaan’s supremacy is not limited to the first day itself. In fact, it is expected to earn even more today, as per the trends, considering the positive word-of-mouth and the Republic Day national holiday. As per reports, the film is enjoying an occupancy rate of 60% today, despite the increase in the number of shows from yesterday. Hence, it is expected to collect around Rs. 60-63 crores today in India itself.
Pathaan also stars Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana along with a cameo by Salman Khan.
