The much-talked-about and immensely hyped Yash starrer KGF – Chapter 2 was released a little over a week ago. Released across a staggering 10000 screens worldwide, the film enjoyed one of the widest releases of recent times. If that was not enough, the hype surrounding the film and the fact that it enjoyed a four-day extended weekend went a long way in boosting the film’s business. Now after just 11 days running at the box office, KGF 2 has managed to cross the Rs. 300 cr mark. In light of the film’s stellar performance, here’s looking at some of the benchmarks KGF – Chapter 2 has established till now. KGF – Chapter 2 benchmarks:
Crossed ₹ 50 cr on Day 1: KGF 2 took off to a flying start with advance bookings for its opening day recording a nearly 80% occupancy rate. Thanks to this, the film saw Rs. 53.95 cr coming in on Day 1 alone. With this, KGF – Chapter 2 dethroned Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion that had collected Rs. 53.35 cr to become the all-time highest opening day grosser.
Crossed Rs. 100 cr on Day 2: Following up a massive first-day collection the business of KGF 2 saw a further Rs. 46.79 cr coming in on Day 2. Crossing the Rs. 100 cr mark with a collection of Rs. 100.74 cr, KGF 2 became the all-time fastest Rs. 100 cr grosser.
Crossed Rs. 150 cr on Day 4: After establishing two records of being the fastest film to achieve Rs. 50 cr, and Rs. 100 cr at the box office, KGF 2 saw its collections remain over the Rs. 40 cr mark for four consecutive days. Interestingly, the only other film to achieve this was Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion. However, unlike Baahubali 2, KGF 2 saw its business exceed Rs. 50 cr on two of these four days.
Crossed Rs. 200 cr on Day 5: Collecting Rs. 219.56 cr within just 5 Days of its release KGF – Chapter 2 raced across the Rs. 200 cr mark in record time. In fact, with its stellar performance, the film now ranks as the all-time fastest Rs. 200 cr grosser.
Crossed Rs. 225 cr on Day 6: A wide release, an extended opening weekend, and a craze that sent theatre owners into a tizzy are what KGF 2 featured. After a massive opening day and opening weekend collection, the business of KGF – Chapter 2 remained stable on Day 6, managing to cross the Rs. 225 cr mark with a further Rs. 19.14 cr coming in.
Crossed Rs. 250 cr on Day 7: Following its blitzkrieg into the Rs. 100 cr and Rs. 200 cr club, KGF 2 blew past the Rs. 250 cr mark with its Day 7 collection of Rs. 16.35 cr. With Rs. 255.05 cr coming in just 7 days, the film has seen one of the fastest box office growth patterns of recent times.
Crossed Rs. 275 cr on Day 9: Towards the end of its first week in theatres, the business of KGF – Chapter 2 did see a slight dip in collections, however, the film continued its march. Crossing the Rs. 275 cr mark on Day 9 KGF 2 drew in a further Rs. 13.58 cr and Rs. 11.56 cr on Day 8 and Day 9 respectively, taking its overall nine-day collection to Rs. 280.19 cr.
Crossed Rs. 300 cr on Day 11: After enjoying a money-spinning first week, the business of KGF – Chapter 2 saw its collections jump on its second weekend, propelling the film past the Rs. 300 cr mark. Becoming the 10th film to cross Rs. 300 cr at the box office, KGF – Chapter 2 now shares the stage with Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion as being the fastest films to cross the Rs. 300 cr mark.
Currently, the film continues to run to packed theatres across the board, with expectations of the film’s business seeing further growth over its second week. In fact, KGF – Chapter 2 has already raked in Rs. 321.12 cr is expected to rival the lifetime collections of the Aamir Khan starrer Dangal which had collected Rs. 387.38 cr by the end of its second week.
