The much talked about and immensely hyped film KGF – Chapter 2 was released nearly two weeks ago. Starring Yash the film that opened to a thunderous response in both the domestic and overseas markets has been raking in the moolah with each passing day. After recording a collection of over Rs. 50 cr on Day 1, the business of the film witnessed growth rapidly over its opening weekend. In fact, the business of KGF 2 fast crossed not just the Rs. 100 cr mark but the Rs. 200 cr and the Rs. 300 cr mark as well. Now on its 15th day running, KGF – Chapter 2 has managed to draw in a further Rs. 6.20 cr, taking its total box office collections to Rs. 343.13 cr.
In this box office report, we look at the collections of KGF – Chapter 2 while comparing the same to previous releases. Collecting a staggering Rs. 343.13, cr KGF – Chapter 2 has managed to become the third all-time highest grosser to date. In fact, the business of KGF 2 has managed to surpass the collections of previous releases like Sanju which collected Rs. 342.53 cr, PK which collected Rs. 340.8 cr, Tiger Zinda Hai which collected Rs. 339.16 cr, Bajrangi Bhaijaan which collected Rs. 320.34 cr, War which collected Rs. 317.91 cr, Padmaavat which collected Rs. 302.15 cr, and Sultan which had collected Rs. 300.45 cr.
On the other hand, the business of KGF 2 does not manage to come near the collections of the previously released SS Rajamouli directorial Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion which collected Rs. 510.99 cr and the Aamir Khan starrer Dangal collected Rs. 387.38 cr. However, given the film’s current trend at the box office, KGF – Chapter 2 could easily close the gap to the second place, which is currently occupied by Dangal.
Trade predictions state that KGF – Chapter 2 will continue to see business flourish despite the new releases viz. Runway 34 and Heropanti 2 hitting screens. In fact, this Eid, advance estimates claim that the business of the Yash starrer will certainly see a massive spike in collections making it that much closer to surpassing the overall business of Dangal.
