This is truly turning out to be a landmark moment in the history of Indian cinema. On its ninth day, a film is bringing its best collections till date. This is not at all as the tenth day will be a record. The Kashmir Files, which started at Rs. 3.55 crores, brought in Rs. 24.80 crores on its second Saturday and is set to have its second Sunday at least over Rs. 28 crores, if not Rs. 30 crores itself.
That would make its 10th day almost 10 times that of the first day, which is unbelievable as most films will have a dream to have their entire lifetime as 10 times that of the first day!
The film is doing this kind of business despite a biggie like Akshay Kumar starrer Bachchhan Paandey arriving as competition. Had there been no competition at all, then Rs. 28 crores would have been crossed yesterday itself by the Vivek Agnihotri directed film with holds-no-bar collections today.
Standing at Rs. 141.25 crores, the Anupam Kher and Mithun Chakraborty led film will breezily go past the Rs. 200 crores mark and then collect a lot more before the close of the second week. The journey towards Rs. 200 crore club is in the quickest possible time, and then some real fun will start as the lifetime records set by the biggest of the Bollywood blockbusters will begin to tumble.
