The Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh which is a remake of the south film Arjun Reddy released yesterday. Directed by Sandeep Vanga the film released across 3123 screens in the domestic market, this wide release coupled with positive reviews, good advance bookings and little competition has ensured that the film opens on a high note.
In this box office report we take a look at the opening day collections of Kabir Singh while comparing the same to previous releases that have been rated as Adults Only. Collecting Rs. 20.21 cr Kabir Singh has managed to become the second highest opening day grosser for an A certified film. In fact, the opening day collections of Kabir Singh have managed to surpass the collections of previous A certified films like Grand Masti that collected Rs. 12.50 crore, Veere Di Wedding that collected Rs. 10.70 crore, Shootout at Wadala that collected Rs. 10.10 crore, Raaz 3 that collected Rs. 10.25 crore, Hate Story 3 that collected Rs. 9.72 crore, The Dirty Picture that collected Rs. 9.54 crore, Ragini MMS 2 that collected Rs. 8.43 crore. However, the business of Kabir Singh does not manage to surpass the business of the other A rates release Satyameva Jayate that collected Rs. 20.52 cr.
As of now with little to no competition from new releases, coupled with a wide screen count and positive reviews the business of Kabir Singh is expected to grow over the weekend. In fact, it won’t be surprising to see the film emerge as one of the highest opening weekend A rated films.
