The Gujarati film Fakt Mahilao Maate featuring Amitabh Bachchan hit screens last week on Friday. The regional film which saw little promotion and limited screens faced competition from the mainstream Bollywood release Do Baaraa. However, despite this massive hurdle Fakt Mahilao Maate has been doing brisk business. After opening on a good note, the film which has received a positive response from the audience has been seeing its collections increase. In the overseas markets as well Fakt Mahilao Maate has been faring well.
In fact, at the North American box office, Fakt Mahilao Maate has managed to draw in Rs. 26.80 lakhs over its opening weekend alone. With Rs. 6.87 lakhs coming in from U.S.A and a further Rs. 19.93 lakhs coming in from the Canada market, Fakt Mahilao Maate seems to have been well received by the audience. Interestingly, in both locations viz. U.S.A and Canada the film saw a limited release across just 26 and 12 screens respectively.
Given the current box office trend the business of Fakt Mahilao Maate is enjoying coupled with the fact that other mainstream Bollywood releases have been floundering, predictions state that the business of the film will see further growth. In fact, trade estimates state that Fakt Mahilao Maate could see its collections eclipse the other Bollywood release Do Baaraa, despite the latter enjoying a wider reach and screen count.
