Filmmaker Siddharth Anand is currently known as the action specialist. But he started off as a romantic-comedy maker with films like Salaam Namaste (2005), Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008) and Anjaana Anjaani (2010) along with a film on family struggles in the form of Ta Ra Rum Pum (2007).
But as soon as he turned his interest towards action, he has hit the Rs. 100 crores mark each time. It started off with Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif starrer Bang Bang, which went onto earn Rs. 181.03 crores. This was followed by the Hrithik and Tiger Shroff starrer War, which became one of the biggest hits as it amassed Rs. 318.01 crores.
But Siddharth struck gold with his next release Pathaan in 2023. A lot was on stakes, including Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback after four years after a series of non-starrers. The film surpassed expectations and became the first one to not only breach the Rs. 400 Crores Club but went onto earn an unprecedented number of Rs. 543.05 crores.
With his latest release Fighter, which stars Hrithik and Deepika Padukone for the first time, he has reached the Rs. 100 crores mark for the fourth time and that too in a row. The film, which also stars Anil Kapoor, Akshay Oberoi and Karan Singh Grover, has so far earned Rs. 137.35 crores and is still running in theatres.
Through Fighter, Siddharth Anand has also equalled Rajkumar Hirani, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Kabir Khan with four movies in the Rs. 100 Crores Club. Hirani has hit the three-figure mark in his films 3 Idiots, PK, Sanju and Dunki. For Bhansali, it’s Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat and Gangubai Kathiawadi. Kabir Khan’s four movies in the Rs. 100 Crores Club include Ek Tha Tiger, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Tubelight and 83.
The aforementioned four filmmakers jointly share the second position when it comes to most number of films in the Rs. 100 Crores Club. The first position is held solely by Rohit Shetty who has hit the Rs. 100 Crores Club as many as 9 times!
