Ajay Devgn's Drishyam 2 is showing a fantastic trend at the box office in India. According to early estimates, Drishyam 2 has hit the ball out of the park on its second day showing a jump in the range of 45% to 50%, as collections seem to be falling in the range of Rs. 21.75 to 23 crores. The jump is all across the board, with multiplexes showing an earth-shattering jump of over 50 percent, and single screens going up by about 30 percent. The film was on a rampage on Saturday.
Drishyam 2 has recorded the biggest Saturday jump for a film that has opened in double digits in post-pandemic times, and the jump resonates with the trend of such films in the pre-pandemic world. The jump indicates that the Ajay Devgn film is here to stay for a long time and put up a big total in its lifetime run. The film is a sure shot hit and it's the hold on Monday that will tell us if the film can emerge as a blockbuster.
In just two days, Drishyam 2 has also emerged as the highest-grossing Ajay Devgn film of the year by surpassing his previous two releases, Runway 34 and Thank God and the 4-day collection of Drishyam 2 will be higher than the collections of both the films put together.
Drishyam will see another jump in business on Sunday and the first weekend is expected to be in the range of Rs. 60 crores. While multiplexes firing in a big way was always expected given the strong recall value of the first part, the single screens firing is a surprise for everyone in the industry. It's certainly the case of the trailer creating the right excitement alongside the star cast, which is like a reunion of all popular 90s stars - Ajay Devgn, Tabu, and Akshaye Khanna.
The two-day collection of Drishyam 2 stands at approx. Rs. 38.00 crore. It's a breather for Ajay Devgn, whose lineup looks promising now with Bholaa also under his kitty.
