Even though post pandemic season was largely disappointing for Ayushmann Khurrana, just prior to that when theatres were still open he had released Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. The film had come at a time when the actor had delivered a double hat trick of successes with as many as three centuries behind him. The sequel benefitted from it, took a good start, and ended up scoring a half century though couldn’t cover much of a distance (Rs. 60.78 crores).
Well, Ayushmann can cheer now as he has managed to get back into his pre-pandemic groove, what with Dream Girl 2 crossing the entire lifetime of his last success in a matter of just one week. The film currently stands at Rs. 67 crores and this is also one of his best Week One (after Bala and Dream Girl) with Badhaai Ho (Rs. 66.40 crores) below it. This happened due to consistent collections that have come in ever since the double digit opening of the film (Rs. 10.69 crores) and then the partial holiday period of Rakshabandhan further ensured that there were those few extra crores added.
The film collected Rs. 7.50 crores even on Thursday and that’s just around 30% drop from Friday, which is a very good trending. All eyes are now on how the second Friday hold turns out to be for the film. Anything in Rs. 4 crores range would be good as there is a weekend ahead for it with no new Bollywood release for competition. This Raaj Shaandilyaa and Ekta Kapoor film is aiming for a lifetime of over Rs. 90 crores lifetime and that would make it a clean hit.
