Devara (Hindi) has turned out to be a success story. It had a good weekend at the box office as Rs. 29.52 crores came in. It seemed on the cards as well when the first day collections came to Rs. 7.95 crores. That had pretty much set the stage well and post that even regular growth was promising enough to ensure a healthy weekend number for the film.
No wonder, after bringing in Rs. 9.50 crores on Saturday, the film moved well to a double-digit score on Sunday, what with Rs. 12.07 crores more coming in. This has been an icing on the cake for the Telugu biggie that arrived with hardly and marketing and promotion for the Hindi version and in the process has registered decent numbers. Yes, with enhanced build up en route release, the potential was for a much bigger number since NTR Jr. is leading the show with Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor in there as well.
Nonetheless, a start has been made and now it’s about consolidating from this point on. An overall good haul is round the corner and with this NTR Jr. will emerge as one of the rare heroes from south to score a half century or more in the Hindi version as well. This could well have been pitched as a Rs. 100 Crores Club affair and while that won’t happen, the fact that the film has managed to be amongst the better runners of the year is a good deal indeed.
