Ajay Devgn's loyal mass audience in the interiors is continuing to support his films. Shivaay has opened to good numbers in these centres and has registered a total of Rs. 10.24 crore. These are the regions dominated by single screens and this is where Ajay Devgn also has the best pull when it comes to a large fan base. Moreover, since action works predominantly in these circuits, it was also pretty much on the cards that audience footfalls would be more than just decent.
This is primarily a start that the film has gained and at the least, the numbers have to maintain on these levels right through the weekend. Once the film manages collections around the Rs. 30 crore mark over the weekend, it would then boil down to the all-important Monday doing the trick. This would be the day when the all-India pull for the film would be known and if Shivaay manages to hit a boundary or a six, it would come into a zone where stability for rest of the weekend would allow it to breathe easier.
Ajay Devgn has done it in the past when Drishyam [Rs. 8 crore] didn't really take a huge opening but still went on to be a good grosser. Of course there it was the content that did the talking and in case of Shivaay, it is the action that needs to be picked up by the audience at least by Monday. Moreover, for the film to eventually get into the success zone, it would have to do much bigger numbers since Ajay Devgn has set it up all on a very huge scale.
