It is raining double centuries this winning season. The Kashmir Files scored a double century inside two weeks itself and then went on to consolidate its stand further in the week gone by. On the other hand, RRR (Hindi) did quite well in its first week and is now racing towards the Rs. 200 crores mark. That would make it two double centuries in a row for two-film industry, which is remarkable indeed.
Let’s talk about RRR (Hindi) first. On its announcement, the film was quite big but then its release was postponed so many times (owing to pandemic) that by the time it arrived last Friday, not many could foresee this one to be scoring a double century in the Hindi version. Suddenly, a really hot film became a word of mouth affair, though that was unfounded too if one takes into consideration the opening day which crossed Rs. 20 crores mark. Post that it sustained quite well and an average of Day 1 number was more or less maintained right through the week, as a result of which the collections currently stand at Rs. 132.09 crores*.
On the other hand The Kashmir Files is a once in a lifetime phenomenon that has taken place at the box office with a Rs. 15 crores budgeted film set to score over Rs. 250 crores just from the India release, with so much more coming from the overseas market as well. After an uninterrupted run for the first couple of weeks, it did start evidencing drops in the third week; especially during the weekdays, but then the job had already been done. This is the reason why after three films the film stands at Rs. 238.28 crores, which makes it an all-time blockbuster.
Attack - Part 1 has released this Friday and one just hopes that the party continues with these three films across genres continuing to entice huge footfalls from the audiences.
