What a run it is turning out to be at the box office. Both RRR [Hindi] and The Kashmir Files have brought cheers in the exhibition and distribution circle. It is turning out to be such a good coincidence that both films arrived in a gap of just two weeks and now would be celebrating a major milestone too in the same time duration.
Let's talk about The Kashmir Files first. The film saw more collections trickling over the weekend gone by and as a result has achieved yet another huge milestone of Rs. 250 crores. With its collections standing at Rs. 250.73 crores, the film has done at least five times the kind of business that most would have expected as the best case scenario. Really, before the release had anyone told the makers that the film would have a Rs. 50 crores lifetime at the Indian box office, they would have been reasonably content. However, what has happened is indeed history.
Ditto for RRR [Hindi] that has done much better business than what was expected out of it. Yes, SS Rajamouli is leading the charge here and he came with this film after delivering massive blockbusters with the Baahubali franchise. Still, Rs. 150-200 crores lifetime number would have been considered as good enough for the period action drama. However, for now it is chasing Rs. 250 crores milestone too, what with its collections after the third weekend standing at Rs. 231.59 crores. This is yet another major superhit that the industry has earned this year.
Next up is KGF - Chapter 2 [Hindi] and unless the film goes very wrong (which doesn't seem to be the case), another Rs. 250 crores+ grosser is on its way.
