After releases like Raees, Kaabil and Jolly LLB 2 continuing the list of big releases is the Vishal Bhardwaj directed film Rangoon. The film which is set in the era of the Second World War features Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Kangna Ranaut in lead roles. Released yesterday the film despite its hype took off to a rather slow start.
In this box office analysis we take a look at the opening day collections of Rangoon while comparing the same to the previously released films of 2017. Collecting Rs. 6.07 cr Rangoon stands as the fourth highest opening day grosser of 2017. Though the film’s collections do not surpass the collections of previous releases like, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees that collected Rs. 20.42 cr, the Akshay Kumar starrer Jolly LLB 2 that collected Rs. 14.27 cr and the Hrithik Roshan starrer Kaabil that collected Rs. 10.43 cr, it does manage to overtake the collections of The Shraddha Kapoor starrer Ok Jaanu that collected Rs. 4.08 cr.
Going by the current trends in collections Rangoon will have to depend heavily on positive word of mouth to post decent weekend figures.
