The Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees opened to a thunderous response from the Indian audience when it released on January 25. Similarly overseas as well the film not only opened on a good note but continued to rake in the moolah as the week progressed. Back home, Raees, has emerged as the highest grossing film of 2017 so far; however, it is yet to compete with some of the highest grossing films in previous years.
Following a similar trend in the overseas markets Raees despite doing brisk business has managed to rake in USD 12.5 million, to become the fourteenth highest international grosser of all time. Though Raees ranks far lower on the list as compared to Shah Rukh Khan’s previous releases like Dilwale that collected USD 25.6 million, My Name is Khan that collected USD 23.5 million, Chennai Express that collected USD 17.4 million and Happy New Year that collected USD 16.4 million amongst others, it has managed to surpass the Karan Johar directed film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil that had collected USD 12.4 million.
But since Raees still continues to run in theatres both within the domestic and international markets, all that remains to be seen now is whether the Rahul Dholakia directed film managed to continue to draw in the audience and claim a spot higher up in the ranking.
