Around 10 crores came at the box office on Friday between new releases Mission Raiganj and Thank You For Coming, along with last week's Fukrey 3. Mission Raniganj led the pack with better collections though Fukrey 3 wasn't far behind, despite being in the second week. As for Thank You For Coming, it's fighting it out on its limited screenings with an A certificate to go for it as well.
Let's talk about Mission Raniganj first. The film certainly deserves far better than what the scores would reflect. Its start was very low with Rs. 2.75 crores* coming on Friday but there was unanimous view that this is a well-made film and it's plain unfortunate that the collections are not reflective of the content it boasts of. The Akshay Kumar starrer did show good growth on Saturday with Rs. 4.50 crores* been collected, which is some sort of respite. That said, it still needs to do a lot more and grow further today as well. Currently, the film stands at Rs. 7.25 crores*.
Fukrey 3 has been doing well, both in terms of collections as well as occupancy. The film is seeing good showcasing for itself in the second weekend as well and the jump has been quite good, what with Rs, 4.02 crores coming on Saturday after Friday collections stood at Rs. 2.31 crores. The fact that Rs. 4 crores mark has been breached is quite positive for this comedy franchise and now it's set to have a lifetime of Rs. 95-105 crores. Currently standing at Rs. 76.50 crores, this one is a hit.
On the other hand, Thank You For Coming too had word of mouth coming its way amongst its target urban multiplex audience. From Rs. 1.06 crores on Friday, the film jumped to Rs. 1.56 crores on Saturday. In absolute value, the numbers are just about okay, but then this growth has given the film a chance to fight it out. One just waits to see if Rs. 2 crores mark is crossed today, so that further stability comes in from Monday onwards.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
