The Anurag Singh directed film Kesari starring Akshay Kumar released last week on the festival of Holi. The film which also featured Parineeti Chopra opened on a slow note in the morning; however, post 3 PM the business of the film witnessed a massive increase.
Now after a week’s run at the box office, we take a look at the opening week collections of Kesari while comparing the same to Akshay Kumar’s previous releases. Collecting Rs. 105.86 cr Kesari that enjoyed an extended 4 day festive opening weekend has managed to become Akshay Kumar’s highest opening week grosser. In fact, the business of Kesari has surpassed the collections of Akshay’s previous releases like Toilet – Ek Prem Katha that collected Rs. 96.05 cr, Rustom that collected Rs. 90.9 cr, Gold that collected Rs. 87.3 cr, Housefull 3 that collected Rs. 80.1 cr, Rowdy Rathore that collected Rs. 79.52 cr, AirLift that collected Rs. 78.5 cr, Jolly LLB 2 that collected Rs. 77.71 cr, Singh Is Bliing that collected Rs. 77.6 cr, and Brothers that collected Rs. 72.6 cr.
As of now, with the new releases opening to a lacklustre start, trade experts state that Kesari will continue to be the audiences’ first choice in theatres. Thanks to this, the film is more than likely to see yet another spurt in collections over its second weekend.
