Jab Harry Met Sejal was always on a shaky ground when it collected Rs. 15.25 crore on its opening day and then didn’t grow over the weekend. This means a 50% fall was always on the cards during the weekdays. The only silver lining was the partial holiday of Rakhi on Monday and that would have evened out the scenario to a little extent.
A fall that could have been much bigger was salvaged to some extent as the film collected Rs. 7.15 crore more on Monday. Not that this is a great number since the opening day by itself wasn’t really huge and hence a fall like this is all the more remarkable if one looks at an absolute number.
The film has now collected Rs. 52.90 crore in four days and to think of it, even this number is much lesser than what Raees had collected in its first three days [Rs. 59.83 crore]. That pretty much tells how much is the film lacking in comparison and hence would have to eventually settle down at a much lower score.
Further test of times begins for the film now as the real first weekday is today when everything would come down to the normal levels. Expect the film to have further drop in collections today since the partial holiday advantage is gone as well. With the kind of word of mouth that has been generated for the film right through the four days so far, it would be an achievement no less for the Shah Rukh Khan and Imtiaz Ali starrer to hold on anywhere close to the Monday levels.
