Happy Bhag Jayegi is hanging on at the box office. Though collections in the upwards of Rs. 2 crore on a daily basis right through the weekdays would have really helped the Mudassar Aziz directed film better, the romcom is still not out of contention as it is still collecting at the least. Between Monday and Tuesday, it has brought in more than Rs. 3 crore already and now sits at the Rs. 13.96 crore mark.
The film should ideally collect Rs. 3 crore more between today and tomorrow so that exhibitors get enough confidence to spare good number of screens for it in the second week. A Flying Jatt is releasing this Friday and has seen good push especially in last few days. Still, since it is a solo release and doesn't need 3000-4000 screens to arrive big, there would be ample space available for other films to make a mark as well.
Meanwhile, Rustom has collected around Rs. 4 crore between Monday and Tuesday, and with this collections now stand at Rs. 112 crore*. The Akshay Kumar starrer has now gone past Housefull 3 [Rs. 109.14 crore] and is the third highest grosser of the year after Sultan [Rs. 300.35 crore] and Airlift [Rs. 128.1 crore]. The film is already a Superhit and while the pace now is not as aggressive as the start that it took, it would still comfortably go past the Rs. 120 crore mark. While Rs. 125 crore is a given for the film, it would be interesting to see how close does it eventually come to Airlift.
Mohenjo Daro is practically counting its last 2 days in more than 90% of screens where it was released since it is collecting in lakhs now. It would just about touch the Rs. 60 crore mark in its lifetime sum. Flop.
