It is time for yet another record to be enjoyed by Golmaal Again. While there have been quite a few clashes in the past as well, some close and some one sided, never before has either of the two films managed to go past the 30 crore mark. However, the Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn film has managed to do that, and that too when the other film in question [Secret Superstar] has scored reasonably well too for its genre.
Let's take a look at some of the high profile Box Office clashes that have occurred in the recent past, and their collections:
Golmaal Again [30.14 crore] - Secret Superstar (Day 2) [9.30 crore]
Bang Bang [27.54] - Haider [6.14 crore]
Dilwale [21 crore] - Bajirao Mastani [12.80 crore]
Raees [20.54 crore] - Kaabil [10.43 crore]
Jab Tak Hai Jaan [15.23 crore] - Son of Sardaar [10.72 crore]
Rustom [14.11 crore] - Mohenjo Daro [8.87 crore]
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil [13.30 crore] - Shivaay [10.24 crore]
As can be seen, Golmaal Again has edged past Bang Bang, which had Haider for competition. Margin between Golmaal Again-Secret Superstar and Bang Bang-Haider is almost similar (around 21 crore), though in absolute terms it is Golmaal Again which has emerged as a winner due to its score of 30.14 crore.
As one progresses down, Dilwale and Raees are the only other films which managed at least 20 crore on their opening day. Incidentally both are Shah Rukh Khan starrers. However, remaining releases have not even touched 20 crore on a clash.
This makes the score of Golmaal Again all the more impressive since it has scored the biggest ever on a clash and that too by a distance!
