The Raj Kumar Gupta directed film Raid starring Ajay Devgn has been doing well at the box office. Released on Friday last week the film which took off to a slow start saw good growth in business over its opening weekend. In fact, evening and night shows of raid witnessed staggering booking propelling the overall collections of the film further.
In this box office report, we take a look at the opening weekend collections of Raid while comparing the same to previously released films of 2018. Surprisingly, Raid, which despite very little promotions in the run upto its release, drew in Rs. 41.01 cr on its opening weekend managing to out beat the Akshay Kumar starrer Pad Man that had collected Rs. 40.05 cr. If that wasn’t all, the opening weekend collections of Raid have surpassed the collections of other releases this year like Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety that collected Rs. 26.57 cr, Pari that collected Rs. 15.34 cr, Hate Story IV that collected Rs. 12.57 cr, and Aiyaary that collected Rs. 11.70 cr.
However, still retaining the top slot as the highest opening weekend grosser of 2018 is the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed film starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor Padmaavat that collected Rs. 114 cr.
Now, all that remains to be seen is whether Raid that faces little competition in theatres emerges as one of the highest opening week grossers of the year.
