The Nitesh Tiwari directed film Dangal that hit screens back in December 2016, released across the border in China just a few weeks ago. But despite this rather delayed release the film that stars Aamir Khan playing the role of real life wrestler and coach Mahavir Singh Phogath has been literally rattling the Chinese box office.
While the film continues its march at the Chinese box office, we hear that Dangal has established yet another record of sorts. In fact the film which released in China alongside the Hollywood big ticket action entertainer Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has managed to surpass the western flick. In fact while Dangal has raked in USD 112.54 million [Rs. 725.71 cr] in its 17 day run in China, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 on the other hand has managed to rake in just USD 94.76 million [Rs. 611.05 cr].
Though Dangal surpassing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in terms of collections within the Chinese market is obviously a new high, what makes it more interesting is the fact that Dangal becomes the first ever Indian film whose collections have surpassed a Hollywood film that released alongside it. Currently, Dangal continues its march in China, and is expected to see growth over the coming week as well.
