Released last week, Bellbottom opened to rave reviews from the critics and positive feedback from the audience. However the Covid-19 restrictions along with the mid-week release resulted in a low key turnout at cinemas. Despite this, the business of the film saw growth over the weekend with Onam and Rakshabandan holidays greatly favouring the film’s business.
But on its first Monday in theatres, much like films that released pre-Covid times, the business of Bellbottom witnessed a dip in collections. In fact, Bellbottom managed to draw in just Rs. 1.8 cr. on its first Monday. Interestingly, the business of the film saw nearly 30% drop in collections from multiplexes while single screens that started on a comparatively slower note have managed to sustain business with certain territories in the north still continuing with the Rakshabandan celebrations.
Though currently the five day total collections of Bellbottom are pegged at Rs. 14.55 cr, considerably lower than expected, the film has an unopposed two week run ahead. Given this fact, chances of Bellbottom managing to sustain business over the extended period coupled with a further relaxation in Covid-19 restrictions will definitely see the collections inch closer to a total of around Rs. 45 cr.
