A film that I'd been waiting to see... Though I regret expecting from this sleppy flick! On the whole Ghai's Yuvvraaj is major letdown, in terms of content and entertainment. Ghai fails to make a watchable, its a slow- dull and pointless flick. at the box office, Yuvvraaj will go down as one the biggest disasters of bollywood history.

I guess its time Mr Ghai takes a seat in his Whistling Studios and lets one the graduates from his institute direct a film. Yuvvraaj is in the same league as Yaadein and Kisna. All music no soul! Its like scenes are put together to make a story- a story that is old like wine, alas not better! Its would be a great achievment if you can figure out what is going on when, where and how. Salman tries hard, but fails. Katrina looks great, fullstop. Zayed tries hard to act. Mithun is old and wasted. Anil is the best of the lot with a soul in his performance. Ask me, stay away from this YUVVRAAJ. Sit home and watch YUVRAJ play cricket instead.

The story is a simple one which is style of Mukta arts and it is family drama with music treat , and watching it on screen make one enjoy each and every frame of the film . The sets , locations are worth watching and it is what makes Subash Ghai diffrent maker , each and every set is worth its scene and the climax location is something one wish to visit . Salman Khan is the UPS of the movie and i wanna confess that after watching YUvvraaj i accept him as an actor , he has give his best and Yuvvraaj is a film which can easyily be called Salmaan khan show. Katrina Kaif is there but nothing khass to do , but one can not ignore her either , Zayed khan is the weak point of the film, maybe coz he is not in my good book ,Javed Sheikh is there but just hanging on wall. The surprise package of the film is the chracter of Sikandar Mirza , although there are few scenes of him ,since he is among one of my fav so i loved him whenevr he appeared on screen. For me Anil kapoor will be the reason to re watch Yuvvraaj, Anil has steal the second half and given his best and that shows why he is Fav of the show man after Jaggu Dada . Subash Ghai .Once a show man but post millenium he lost the plot .With three disasters in a row and unexciting promos my expectations from his latest outing Yuvraaj were not that high .However Subash Ghai redeems himself to a certain degree here.The film is grand spectacle which leaves you stunned at various points .But suffers with excessive length and a wafer thin plot considerably .Its not in the league of his earlier works but much better compared to Yaadein and Kisna!Overall a watchable fare! The film opens in Prauge and we are shown that Salman Khan is a struggling singer .His father left him alone right from his childood without any care and love .He is a hardcore anti family man for this very reason[lol] .Salman is in love with Katrina ,a musician ,but her father Boman does not approve of their relationship given Salman's penniless status .Things take a turn when Salman has to return to London following the death of his father to get his property from the two evil brothers Anil and Zayed . Yuvraaj starts on a terrible note .Five minutes into the film and I started looking for a breath of fresh air .The comic track between Boman and Salman is absolutely forced and does not quite raise the laughter .Instead its highly irritating and made me pull my hair string .The romantic portion between Salman-Katrina is another sore point .It lacks passion .Also Salman looks bit old here ,a far cry from his usual boyish looks ,hence their chemistry is totally missing .I expected the drama to get better after Salman returns to London but the film continied to drag right till the intermission . However the graph changes for better post the intermission .The story is quite captivating after Anil and Salman set out on a journey to Austria .The drama is quite watchable and the emotional moment between the brothers is quite mesmerizing .The way Anil transforms himself and his antics in this half are a riot . However the film is not without its share of its flaws in this hour .The way Zayed khan's character has a change of heart is bit hard to digest for Salman-Anil hav done absolutely nothing for him to have this transformation .It looks fake .And even the climax looks like a hurried job for director did not even bother to explain how the misunderstanding between the brother gets sorted out .Anil is in comma but the filmends suddenly. Also the evil mama and his gangs are highly irritating .Their character could have done without .Likewise the film is bit boring and you need high degree of patience to sit through some scenes which have been dragged for no reasons! Anil Kapoor steals the show here .He delivers a smashing performance and provides the much needed relief .He is the soul of the film. Salman Khan is his usual self in th first half .However comes into his own in the second half .The climax whre he breaks down in front of Boman is worth an applause.Zayed is okay .Katrina looks like an angel an shows a vast improvement over her earlier performances .Boman is unbearable and loud .This performance reminded me of love story 2050! The best part of the film however is the choreography .Each and every songs have been filmed in a royal way .THey are simply out of this woorld .Shano Shano appears bit tacky picturisation wise but remaining numbers deserve special mention .The visual in the songs are magnificient . Overall a watchable movie that should do well for the first three day but its prospectus appears bit doubtful after MOnday onwards .It does not have a repeat value and is bit boring! 2.5/5
