Vivah was an excellent film, with excellent intentions, those who bash it obviously don't know what indian cinema really means. Its great to see Barjatya go back to his roots and present to us this masterpiece. Job Well Done! A must see for everyone!

Absolutely fantastic film. I am genuinely unbiased, i can promise u that, but I think indiafm has really done a disservice to Vivah with their review, it does not do the film justice at all. Vivah is up there with fanaa and RDB and Munnabhai for best film of the year, believe me. The story is so sweet and simple but so perfectly played. Shahid and Amrita's jodi is absolutely perfect and they prove once and for all that they are the new Kajol / SRK. The way simple emotions are highlighted in this movie, and the way the lead up to a wedding happens is pitch perfect. It is the same little touches that made HAHK and Maine Pyar Kiya so great. Taran Adarsh has been very unfair by compairing this badly to Maine Pyar Kiya and HAHK, they were 2 of the best films ever, of course in comparison this is not as good - but it is still a fantastic movie.

Vivah is an extraordinary movie. Its a movie that a family is looking for,to go together for. Its a movie that anyone in love is looking for. Its a movie for all those people, who hav lost faith in terms like 'commitment', 'love' and 'marriage'. Theres a lot todays youth can learn from this movie. In a period where live-in relationships and movies on marriages falling apart rule the box office, along comes vivah.. bringing with it the purest form of simplicity that can exist. It ignites faith in people. U walk out of the theatre with a smile on ur face. Sure it gets corny sumtimes. But hey, if u r a romantic.. u can handle it. Dont miss this one.

Damn, how this film makes us miss Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit. Vivah is a nightmare. With a storyline and background score making you feel like you're trapped in a sadistically put-together marathon of soap operas.this isn't just a bad movie. There are lots of awful films out there, and one would ignore this, label it avoidable (wise course of action) and move on, but this is much worse than a mere bad film. the film paints an India that makes you wince, a disastrously worded world whose characters are not just saccharine but suicide-provoking. Alright, people in small towns are simple and charming, and yes, they are more prone to tradition than most of us, but in no way are they... what's the word? Ah yes, pathetic. Vivah is shameful simply because it makes you glad to be in a big city, and like another big release this year, it really makes you wanna give marriage a rethink. Picture Shahid mooning wistfully on a verandah. Amrita, ghoonghat covering her head, pops up behind him with a brass tumbler full of water, and mousily asks him if he'd like some "jal." That's right, these folk are inadvertently mean caricatures of the heartland, talking like absolutely nobody does. He sniffles, takes the glass and reaches for some ice when she cuts in. 'People with a cold,' she smiles at his sneakers, 'shouldn't ice their drinks.' Amrita smiles 'coyly' and scoots off, even as Shahid skips the ice and stands wondering how she realised he had a cold. While this rough translation from the unbelievable Vivah tongue might not have quite the same impact, it exemplifies the horror this film is packed with. Amrita Rao plays a cow. Docile to a fault, the pretty girl ponders around the film, constantly getting in the way of the story. Her character is not just conservative but excessively given to world-pleasing. She sobs, she smiles, she scampers -- she does anything anyone wants her to do, making you wish someone tried asked her to be subtle. Her painful performance coupled with the horrible lines she's given singles her out as the film's weakest point -- so her having the maximum screentime isn't a positive Now if only he'd followed this idea up with real actors, something close to a plot, and someone who could write one line of actual dialogue. Credits for this review goes to-Raja Sen

Awesome wud b understating , i wud say highly recommended the movie just hits u like n e thing, a very simple honest n genuine effort to potray a period of courtship from engagement to marriage, sooraj u deserve full points for this, mujhe haq hai is the song which stays on with u and every lover is bound to sing this for their beloved, the twist in the story is again the scoring point for the movie, all seem perfect this time around, i guess sooraj doesnt need stars to make his movie, he can make stars out of his movie, guess dats wat went wrong with Main prem ki diwani hoon...so no more stars sooraj just a good content and small stars will work for u, songs remind u of the times of chitchor geet gata chal n akhiyon ke jharokon se, highly recommended
