Satyagraha starts off with a bang with initial reels showcasing the fight between common man and government. Actual drama unfolds when Dwarka Anand is arrested for slapping a local collector for not releasing government compensation for his son's death. The movie follows series of events which is breath- taking and engrossing. However, the screenplay falters later and you began to loose interest in this elongated tale. Direction wise Prakash Jha chooses the true incidents( Anna Hazare's sacrifice) but loses the balances tripping down the rabbit hole. Screenplay is better. Editing should need a serious attention. Music is disappointing. Performances by the star cast compensates for this . Amitabh Bacchan is outstanding. Watch for him in the climax scene. Ajay Devgan and Arjun Rampal lends in a good support. Manoj Bajpai is good as wicked poilitician. Kareena Kapoor and Amrita Rao is passable. Overall , Satyagraha is a sincere attempt to portray the stinking truth of Indian politics. Should be watched by every Indian. Good 3/5

Satyagraha - 'Disappointing' A topic we have been watching, listening and researching since the last few months on every news channel, newspapers and websites... Do we really need to watch it in cinema halls for 3 more hours... Not a very good option. And with Prakash Jha's repetitive star-cast and treatment, it only gets harder to differentiate this with his previous films. Yet another PJ from Prakash Jha (the man who made cult films like Gangajal and Apharan)

Today, finally we had the opportunity to see the movie at Fremont, California in Century 22. We had a group of 10 folks and all enjoyed throughout. One/two folks felt that ending could have been little better. The theatre had about 150-160 people on 6.55pm show. I am not going to write a long review as I am not a film critic. I go and enjoy the movie if it's good. If it's not a good movie then I keep away except Big B movie. But I never saw Boom!! Coming to the point: My Personal and our Groups Rating: ****. Personally it is a VERY GOOD movie, if not great!! 1. There has been a long debate and view that AB has not big enough role. It totally incorrect. Big B has scene presence almost every scene except one/two in the 2nd Half. 2. There are several scenes where Big B is unmarthed and I am sure he should get a few awards. Some of the scenes I could immediately recall which gives long remembrance. -- When the School Student comes to meet him to the Stage, he falls down -- Last meesage after he is shot by CRPF -- When he goes to the site of the accident place of his son -- When Ajay Devgan comes to meet Big B to his bed room -- WHen BIg B comes to console his daughter-in-law -- Ajay Devgan's realization after the death of his friend and Big B silently keep watching the scene There are so many such scenes where you feel that WHAT AN ACTOR IS AMITABH BACHCHAN!! I know everybody in this forum has no doubt about his acting capability but the debate is the type of role. Agreed, he should do more SARKAR type of roles but in no way I feels that such role is inferior by any standard or means. We all know he should choose his script. But where is the script? If he has such good script then why will he deny such role? Obviously, he can't write his own script but then it has to come from some source. I personally would like to see him whenever and wherever he has a good role. And SATYAGRAHA is ONE OF THAT. His acting is SIMPLY BRILLIANT. Others actors have done their job too, though I feel Ajay Devgan could have been better. After all it a FANTASTIC MOVIE and I personally along with the group enjoyed a lot with popcorn and coke.

Another Prakash jha direction which can bind you for 2.5 hours. But i dont know why Prakash is not ready to work with a new set of people. It seemed as if we are watching sequel of Aarakshan, Amitabh bachan is again an ex principal. Manoj vajpai in almost same kind of character. Babu rao is again playing a corrupt leader. Still you get a good drama to watch with politics war among Ajay Devgan and Manoj vajpai. Kareena also acted well with Arjaun Rampal performing superb. The story will remind some instances of Anna act as well with a new dialogue "Janta Rocks". The style Anna laid down fasting has been copied in the movie. At some point you may feel bad but still will not be able to ignore it. Overall , one time watch with 3/5.
