This movie is for the CLASSES not for the MASSES! :) Ok, yes it may be too late for me to say this, as the film has been released months ago. Yet I would like say that this movie is OUTSTANDING, its a CLASSIC. In order to understand this movie, you need to have a sense of appreciation for arts and espcially literature. Onc cannot expect to "enjoy" reading Shakespeare, or other classics such as the Odyssey. Yet, they are considered one the greatest litertures of all times. In my point of view, this movie is very different from Bhansali's other films. He has taken Indian cinema to a whole new level by daring to make this movie. Ok, so me give some answers to Taran Adarsh's questions in regards to the film: Q)Which part of the country is this straight-out-of-a-fairytale town located? And what era are we talking of? A) CLEARLY Rani stated in the STARTING of the movie that is KHAWABON ka shahar. Its an imaginitive city, you will NOT find this on ANY map. Q)Even if you subscribe to the theory that it was love at first sight for Salman and Sonam, what is it that keeps their romance going? A) Have you ever been in love? =] Do YOU know that there is a thing called "commitment" =] Q)Why does Salman disappear suddenly? Besides his name, the girl knows nothing about him. Not his home/native place, work/profession/work place, relatives, nothing absolutely. It's like falling in love with a shadow, isn't it? A)When Salman was departing for Sonam, he CLEARLY said that he works in a profession where he CANNOT take her and therefore she must wait. Even in the END, he says that "do u wish to spend this dukhbari life with me"? That states that this man is not made of riches. Also, you need to consider Sonam's character: She is a girl who has been extremely shletred all her life. She is also naive. So, do you expect this type of girl to even think about those things? such as his work/profession etc There is one scene where Raj DOES asks her those things and she CLEARLY states "what does all these things have to do with my love"? Q)Why does Rani Mukerji abandon Ranbir, when he comes knocking on her doors and admits that he wants to spend time with her? Why does she lose her temper, although she secretly loves him? A) Once again, it was CLEARLY CLEARY shown in the film, that Gulabji abondoned him because she does NOT want his reputation to get ruined. This is shown in the scene where Raj is getting beat up, and Gulab's friend asks her the same question and she says "If he wouldt have been beaten up TODAY, he would have been FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE" Q)And Salman returns. The sequence that follows and the culmination to the story leave you completely disgruntled and perplexed! A)Sorry to say this, but did you even UNDERSTAND the point of this story? This story was about LOVE, PASSION, COMMITMENT Gulanji was in love with Raj. Raj was in love with Sakhina, but she was in LOVE with Salman and was really commited. This WHOLE story is about LOVE LOVE and LOVE. And not just any kind of love, it is PURE LOVE, TRUE LOVE, the kink of love that no religion will ever forbid. The kind of love that rarely exists in todays world (which is why this was shown in an IMAGINARY world)

The latest adventure of Sanjay Leela Bhansali (from Black, Devdas, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Khamoshi) is called Saawariya, and is introducing children of two bollywood stars: Ranbir Kapoor; son of Rishi Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor; daughter of Anil Kapoor. The story is based on a fiction place and the story is taking place during night time!!?!! There have been extensively use of theatrical elements in the movie, such as the focus on background sets and songs almost every minute. The use of theatrical elements worked in JAAN-E-MANN, but not here, because Jaan-e-mann succeeded in balancing between such effects and real life elements. In Saawariya, it is just too much theatre, which can irritate the movie watcher a lot. The music wasn’t so inspiring either. Ranbir Kapoor has done a good job as an actor, but unfortunately, it seems like that it wasn’t the best career start. Especially if you look at it in terms of the numbers at box office, were the revenues started to decrease after some days of the film’s release.

Movie have lot of things to offer such as great visuals,magnificent sets,Outstanding musical score,a totally new experience for indian cinema and most important story of the movie is so simple but still complicated enough within the characters that creates an emotional saga that makes you to feel it. Acting of Ranbir is flawless,beauty of Sonam is unmatched,movie has excells in all departments from direction to music,from sets to visual effects,from story to art direction it has everything in its own unique way. So it is worth watching a real entertainment specially for those who understands what real cinema is!

It's sad to see how critics like Taran Adarsh can talk bad about movies like this and Aaja Nachle and encourage masala ones like Om Shanti Om.

The movie is surely gonna be classified under Greatest Classics after 10 years. Its sad for the country and the industry that movies like this are not liked and appreciated. Mr. Bhansali is a visionary and no one can even think to 5% what he thinks. A remarkable movie. Simply flawless... Surely a must see and eagerly waiting for the movie to come out on DVD so that can watch it again and again

i really dont kno wat the movie is abt really... i admit did hav a few xpectations even after reading the review bt wat i found was even worse thn the review...i really dont gt is goin on nd m seriously confused weather ranbir in this movie shud hav been a boxer or a singer...1 more problem is tht the sets r 2 imaginative nd u find it hard 2 believe...sum scenes in the movie r really ridiculous nd only make fun of poor ranbir who put in very gud effort in bringing the character 2 lif..bt alas u find the character hard 2 believe bcuz ther really cant b such a guy who goes around calling every woman 'madam'...sonam kappor is gud at tyms bt at the end of the movie she just happens 2 b a average actor wich is in sharp contrast 2 ranbir who i really think is supremely talented.

Saawariya -- A perfect Theatrical presentation, with flawless presentation of the "White Nights" on the 'blue canvas'. If you owe a taste of such presentations with the topping of melodious music, take a shot! Please don't see this movie on 'DVD' as the appreciation really lies on the big screen. SLB took a shot at presenting a story 'beyond life', where all the sets, characters, events seems weaved in a dreamland. Personally, hats off to SLB for utilising the blue canvas exceptionally well thru out the movie. The characters of Ranvir and Sonam Kapoor seems so common, yet they represent dreams, that are not hard to see and realize. Ranvir has a good tone modulation for his dialogues but lacks the expression that goes with the moment, sometimes. That's considerable as a beginner. He attempted shots of act previews from Sashi Kapoor, Raj Kapoor, Shammi and his father, Rishi. Sonam's laugh is infectious and complemented well to Ranvir's short-comings as a team contribution to the script. Rani, Salman pulled up the seasonned performances, as expected. I would recommed this movie to a friend, but conditionally he should have patience and taste for theatrical scripts and performances. Otherwise, its a waste of your time and the Saawariya's team's effort.

in a streight language if i say it is a diffrent kind of movie but doesnt entertain you. I watch movie to get entertainment, not for getting bored. If a love story and only love story is amovie topics for you you should go for it or for ranbir kapoor and sonam kapoor they are good but i will wonder would you like this kind of movie ?!! Oh sorry this is not a movie its complete stage drama where there is only one set setting and only one set, no day light ,In that kind of city where you can find no people roaming on the street ,( but surprisingly you can see more beutiful street hookers at least they have been shown very beutiful ! )I mean in india that kind of big city where there is a night club so elegent so classy you cant even find one people on street ? It looks nice but with the story goes on you feel bored , director snajay bhansali is a good director I have watched all his movie and liked it a lot but this is his disappointing film, Of course he tried to give diffrent kind of movie but doesnt appeal that much.
