I don't know what is going to happen in the rest of the 5 1/2 months that remain the year of 2008, but what I am sure of is that A.R. Rehman will be nominated, if not win, an award for the music of Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na. Every song in this album has the potential to be a hit single on its own and yet, to the listeners fortune - all the songs are grouped together. These songs evoke youth, melody, and (please do not call me cheesy), spirit. I will start with my favorite - Kahin To Hogi Woh. What a lovely love ballad. Its slow lilting tune is something which you can hear over and over and over and over again and it would be real hard to get sick of the song. Both the voice and electric guitar have a soothing resonance that evoke that "spirit" feeling which I mentioned earlier. Next Kabhi Kabhi Aditi Zindagi: This song shows A.R. Rehman's desire to experiment with uncontemporary melodies but it turns out great. Rashid Ali voice sings this fun song which has quick notes with lots of words in one note and yet its a medium pace song. The guitar riffs give a nice finishing touch to the song also. And the finale: "Ke Aditi Hastey Hastey Hastey Hastey Hastey to zaraa nahin to phir thoda thoda thoda thoda thoda muskuraa" repeating over and over again was stupendous. Papuu Cant Dance Salaa: This song was completely rejected by me when I first heard it. I thought -what happened to Rehman. But its a song that grows on you. And once it has - you realize how once again Rehman experiments with various instruments to give this club song a different touch. Lots of jazz genre instruments don't make this the been there done that club song tune. It makes it a Rehman Club Song Tune! Jaane Tu Mera Kya Hai both the girl version and Sukhwinder Singh version is great. The thing that works for this song is not only its entire melody, but also the refrain. It is a refrain that is spirit-lifting and sung with great power along with the strings instruments which gives the song a power pack. Nazrein Milaana Nazrein Churaana - Song reminds you have the many other acoustic guitar based songs that have came in the past: Rubaroo (Rang De Basanti), Aao Milon Chalen (Jab We Met), Allah Ke Bande (Waisa Bhi Hota Hai II), and many others. The group singing of the refrain and how the melody leads up to the refrain with "Dil ki jaane kya hua hai... dil ko nahin pataa hai" is what hits a listener the most. And the clear strumming of the acoustic guitar throughout the song gives it that similar feel as the songs mentioned above. And this is why this is another out and out hit! Tu Bole Main Boloon - The title track. I liked the jazz instruments on which this song is played. It gives it a sort of retro-hotel band song sort of feeling. It nicely compliments the overall feel of the movie itself and the melody is quite decent. There isn't anything I can point out about this song which makes it a good song. It just has a nice slow-jazz beat to it and an easy-going melody which just clicks. You gotta hear it to understand what I mean. Overall - get this album into your collection. It will make a difference. I gave it a five star rating which, according to IndiaFm.com means it will go down as a classic. I see no reason why it shouldn't.

The most different and excellent album amongst the monotonous Bollywood music arena. It is no surprise that it is soothing as it is hero's composition- ARR.

As a die-hard fan of AR Rahman, I was waiting for some of his work with a lot of anxiety, mainly because he hadn't released music for quite a long time in 2007 (after Guru, and before Jodha Akbar). JA's music was great, but Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na was what I was waiting for. This album is exactly what ARR is capable of, meaning that this album is fantastic. Like always, ARR has gone around and tried different sounds for this album, resulting in some amazing songs. "Kabhi Kabhi Aditi Zindagi", for example, has a really nice and fresh sound, and one can instantly fall in love with it. "Pappu Can't Dance" has to be one of the most fun songs I've ever listened to. I didn't quite get this song the first time I listened to it, but after some more listening, the beat and everything about the song became so addicting. The promotional video for the song is really fun to watch as well My favorite of the lot, however, has to be "Tu Bole". I didn't like this song the first time I listened to it, but then after some more tries, the song instantly grew on me, and I can't press stop on my player anymore. The jazzy sound in this song is so peaceful and creates such an amazing atmosphere.. this one is the winner.
