To be honest, I was not expecting much from this rom-com (post Jab we met, I've set my standards pretty high) and honestly, I got what I expected. at best, an average film, trying too hard to entertain. It's not a bad film, surely it's not. But when you want to spoof on other films (and IHLS does that well to some degree), make sure you run away from cliches. See, IHLS points at the cliches in so many of our desi love stories, which is the whole point and is fun. But unintentionally goes out and fills cliches where it could have been novel. For eg: When Sonam Kapoor confesses her love to Imran and vice versa. Both scenes are extremely bland and done to death. To make matters worse, a lot of bits and pieces should be credited to american sitcoms Friends and How I met your mother. Imrana nd Sonam are passable and Puneet Malhotra's direction needs finish. Vishal-Shekhar's music is the best thing about this otherwise average candy floss flick.

I Hate Luv Stories directed by Punit Malhotra (nephew of costume designer Manish Malhotra) is a take on some of the most popular love stories that you have seen. The promos were fresh and clicked big time with the audience, the music too was very popular and the film has immense buzz surrounding. Quite obvious since the film is produced under one of Bollywood’s most reputed production houses, Dharma Productions. The film stars Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor. I Hate Luv Stories is about Jay (Imran Khan) and Simran (Sonam Kapoor). Jay basically hates love stories and for Simran its all about love stories. Both work in Bollywood, Simran is an art director, while Jay is an assistant director to Veer (Samir Sony), who is one of the most famous romantic directors in the Indian film industry. Unfortunately for Jay, he has to live in this world of love and unrealistic larger than life characters. Simran is engaged to the man of her dreams, Raj (Sameer Dattani), who is well, Raj straight out of DDLJ. But the film isn’t about Raj and Simran here, as Jay’s dislike towards love soon becomes one of the main reasons for the two – Jay and Simran – to fall in love. What works for I Hate Luv Stories * First off, Punit Malhotra is a director to watch out for. Its his direction along with the performances that makes the film a good one time watch. * The love story works big time and although Raj is engaged to Simran, you want Jay and Simran to fall in love and no matter how clichéd it might sound – live happily ever after. * Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor are perfectly cast and its their sparkling chemistry that stays with you long after the credits roll. Both look amazing in every scene. * The more important half of the film, the second, is well paced and while very predictable works very well for the film. * The music by Vishal and Shekhar is awesome. Almost every song is a gem – Bin Tere, Jab Mila Tu, Sadka to name a few. * The background score (Salim Sulaiman) is excellent. Cinematography (Ayananka Bose) is amazing. Dialogues (Punit Malhotra) are very well written. What doesn’t work * The first half is stretched too long. The film rests on a thin plot and there is nothing much to miss if you walk in a few minutes late. * As mentioned above the film is very predictable and although the climax seemed to have worked big time with the audience, it wasn’t great. Performances * Sonam Kapoor is a revelation and should sweep most awards this year. Her character is immensely likable and her performance with a touch of innocence and plenty of charm makes it easily the best performance in the film. * Imran Khan is brilliant and in form for the first time since his first film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. The audience, especially girls, will love him in the film. * Kavin Dave is very good. Sameer Dattani is wasted. Bruna Abdullah can’t act to save her life. Samir Soni is okay. Aamir Ali is good. Overall, Punit Malhotra on debut gets most things right. His direction is top notch, the casting is perfect and the performances are superb. A good weekend watch.

"I hate luv Storys" . is it these is the Title of Movie, But I luv These Luv Story. Why? I have many answers for why. Lets Talk about it. First,I want to say 3 reasons to watch "I hate luv Storys". 1.Refreshing pair of Imran and Sonam. 2.Its Peppy Music. 3.Heart touching love story for those who like love stories. Its an Romantic Entertainer for me Which was I am missing and not seen from a long time. The story touch's your heart. Nothing new but Refreshing pair of imran and sonam catch your eyes with their extra ordinary performances. First half is entertaining with nice comedy, Second half carries lot of emotions. film is divided in two portions. first with comedy and second with emotions. Its an eye peeping Love Story with delightful Music and nice screen play. Its hold its grip to Story line which holds the audience till end of the movie.Climax is Good,Its different from all Love Stories. Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani, both are of the mark. Excellent Music. All songs are lovable in audio as well as in video. Choreography is remarkable. Punit Malhotra is a Dark horse doing Debut as a director. We can see his hard work as a Director, we cant say he is Debut Director. screen play of the movie is also good. Its Stick to audience to seats. Imaran and sonam's pair is excellent. Both are looking cute together. Imran khan is Excellent and fit in his role like "jane tu ya jane na". Sonam has proved that she is an actress. Fantastic job done by her. she is looking very nice and gorgeous in her role. she has played her role well. Bruna Abdulla is looking good, but she has to work hard for her acting. Sameer Dattani, sameer Soni and amir ali all are Good and played well their roles. Overall, "I hate luv stories" is an Romantic entertainer. Don't Miss it. Watch it.

I am really surprised that this film is considered fresh and youthful. There was nothing fresh or youthful about it in terms of subject matter, content, direction or the performances. The lead characters AND the actors playing them afre very unlikable and unrelatable. There was a wafer thin plot that was reminicent of every other love story made in the past 20 years. The director uses voiceover to try to give the audience some entrance into the characters' motivations but all it did was state the obvious and make the characters sound insipid. There should have been at least 30 minutes that should have been cut because there wasn't enough plot to warrant the running time. The music was average and the costume design was pretty mediocre. The graphic t-shirts that everyone wore were horrible! I understand that they were a fun plot device in Wake Up, Sid but in this movie they were distracting and ugly. The actors and their characters were very unlikable and hard to care about and empathize with. Both Imran and Sonam have a real problem connecting and they come off both false and aloof, which is never good for any actors but especially not good for Bollywood actors. Imran was better of the two but he doesn't possess the charm I think is needed for any good bollywood hero and he is not good at selling the emotion of a song. It came off very sterile. Sonam is just not good I'm afraid. She doesn't possess the vulnerability or likability in her acting to make you feel anything for her, which is sad because she is really pretty. Overall this film was really disappointing and not fresh at all. Even if it was supposed to be a rehash of other love stories, it needed to be done much, much better.

This is a good fresh film by KJO. Sonam and Khan gel together well. They make a gr8 couple in the movie. I loved everything about these two. I think the movie worked gr8 because of these two and there chemistry. I would love this love story more if the story line was not so predictable. I watched it twice. I love the movie still. Kjo movies always work for me.

I Hate Luv Storys:Is not altogether a stereotypical love story. its not free from all the cliches that a love story has but still it manages to avoid quite a few and mock the cliches in a funny way.Imran khan is eye catching, vibrant and full of zest.Vishal-Shekhar's music deserves a big thumbs up.Dialogues are crisp and ...funny credited to the director. its a perfect film 4 a couple so go and fall in "luv".

A very cliched love story. I did not want to it and narrated my perception to a friend 6 hours before watchking the movie. Unfortunately, each and every incident was in that sequence. Performances are decent. Songs are excellent. Script is cringeworthy and dialogues are yuck. Imran acts decently. Sonam over emotes. Bruna looks smashing. Imran's friend (the sprite guy) has nice lines and is the heart of the film. You can afford to give this a miss

Well, When we spend 200 bucks always expect a good Entertaining Movie. Sometime we get out of our expections just like 3idiots. IHLS is made for those people who are younger in heart, a must see movie who likes love Story. Imran looks cool and dashing as usual and Sonam need to groom more... Songs are listenable, Climax should have been more better. Punit Malhotra did a good job. We can say it's a sweet/pretty film in fast half of 2010

The Fact that we all have witnessed in recent times but have not admitted is that every romantic…
The Fact that we all have witnessed in recent times but have not admitted is that every romantic story has the same old story but they change the theme and the atmosphere both and say "Humara Film Hatke Hai". Admitting it at first, this film has done the same thing as it has said, that's why this one's also "Hatke". But the main thing that someone has dared to say the truth. Nephew of Manish Malhotra, Punit Malhotra has conducted this truth through his debut in bollywood and that's very honest of him. The film is not so special because the substance is the same that we have seen a ton of in past romantic movies, but some things catch our eyes like Imran Khan's Improvement as an actor, Punit's well-handled direction, Vishal-Shekhar's Foot Tapping Music, Great Humor rising in bolywood and over all Style, Technique & Locations in New Zealand. But The Lover Boy Impression by Imran Khan, inexpert story, Youth-stalking screenplay, non-veg jokes in some places - these ingredients will not be liked by all ages, it will only call youths to watch it again and again. And I want to clear one thing that I am young but my criticism is not as young as me. PLOT - Every Emotional girl or boy gets emotional and excited when they watch any love story(Even they know that they all are the same) but Jay Dhingra[J](Imran Khan) is not one of them. His opinion is that Every Love Story has the same old "Ghisa Pita" story and dialouges. In movies, directors change the theme and claim it as "Hatke". He is assistant of such a director, Veer Kapoor(Samir Soni). Things get worse when Veer starts shooting of "Pyaar Pyaar Pyaar" and J is made to work under Simran(Sonam A Kapoor), the prosuction designer of "Pyaar Pyaar Pyaar". She is the kind of emotional, love lover girl whom he hates. Gradually, Cupid made them friends and the arrow of love Struck in Simran's heart for J. But Simran realises that her love can't change J's Love Hating Habit. But slowly as time flew the arrow of love struck J's heart also for Simran. After That, what has happened in past love stories, the same has taken place here. MUSIC - Fascinating! One of the best music director duos in the industry have taken over it, so it can't be bad at any means. The Title Track, Bin Tere were The Best ones. But what was another praiseworthy part of the crew was brilliant background scores by Salim-Sulaiman, the best in it. Placings of old numbers, new English short scores, Great Guitar based instrumentals - everything was perfect. For Songs, Background Scores(And Great Location Shots of New Zealand), This one's a pleasure to watch in plexes. DIRECTION - Punit Malhotra has handled this same old love story well with the help of newness in screenplay and much slapstick humor. Humor is the most praiseworthy item in the movie. Especially, some vulgar jokes has made the audience laugh much. But if I Come to the substance, nothing so special. But the film has admitted first that Love Stories are all the same. In that way, the film is honest in its means. ACTING - The most "Dhansu" performance was given by Imran Khan. His improvement as an actor is conspicuous. Sonam was sweet and gorgeous but her acting skills can be more enhanced. Samir Dattani and Samir Soni were fare. But Making "Mahi Ve" the background theme of Veer Kapoor(Samir Soni) was very funny. Shotting of "Pyaar Pyaar Pyaar" which had small small clippings of every Shahrukh acted Romantic movies was also tremendously funny. VERDICT - I HATE LUV STORYS will leave its mark only in College Gores or Young Hearts. It's Funny, Vulgar, Romantic, Young in itself. I Hate Luv Storys reveals the young mind of the creator Punit Malhotra. No very experienced director could have made this movie better, I mean that with this plot, very old-styled love story can't look good. So, if you're young and if you love good humor, this one's especially for You.
