The story of the film " GANDHI MY FATHER" is nothing novelty or new in Hindi cinema. There was a film during early 80's called "SHAKTI" starring DILIPKUMAR, AMITABHBACHCHAN, RAKHEE & SMITA PATIL.
The story of "GANDHI MY FATHER " is exactly similer to " SHAKTI" In 'SHKTI' Dilipkumar plays an honest and faithful POLICE INSPECTOR who doesn't care for his KIDNAPPED son AmitabhBachchan, simler to Gandhi doesn't care for Harilal. Kausurba's role is same as RAKHEE's role in SHAKTI ( wife of Dilipkumar ) and BHUMIKA Chawala's role is same as "SMITA PATIL" wofe of Amitabh Bachchan who are married without taking permission of their parents and are livings seperately from their parents.
IN the end both 'AKSHAYKUMAR ( Harilal )died in " GANDHI My FATHER" and ' AMITABH BACHCHAN ' dies in SHAKTI. leaving their wive's future unknown.
Nothing new in this movie. Not a new story for any father and son relationship. It is a natural for any father who is honest and faithful and devoted to their principle and doesn't care that much for their family because of their principles.
