Everyone must watch this movie, for it's such a great movie. I just loved and enjoyed watching it. Gabbar will become Akshay best grosser to surpass Rowdy rathore! The song Teri Meri Kahaani is fantastic!

Story line is simple but I support the motto and message behind this movie. Screenplay lacks intelligence. Screenplay only passes the information without any emotion. Dialogues by Rajat Arora, are good at places. Main protagonist character has been introduced as a common person but he always behaved and reacted like extra ordinary. Hanging a person or even a dead body in public place, which requires crane to bring down, is not an easy job. Kidnapping also requires some intelligence with trick but here it has to be happen so happened. Kidnapping of DCP is just assumed. If ones life is on threat then why did he allow persons to come in his birthday with mask, even mask has his own face? Film lacks thrill. Investigation about Gabbar looks fake. Female protagonist is lawyer but just for bailing out few persons in pre climax!! Main Villain does not stand out in front of Hero. Film gives typical south Indian movie feel, where a dead body used to come back with some miracle, is very common. Songs slows down further to the already slow movie. Akshay Kumar is very good. Shruti Haasan is fine. Sunil Grover surprisingly never gives any glimpse of his type cast image. He is good.

OMG such a high rating(8.9/10), really make's me doubt intelligence of rating audience. The scene from trailer, addressing audience.. was something I was looking for around interval, sadly it happens to be in the end. The script is weak. The idea to challenge corruption seems nice, but the movie has got unnecessary scenes, and hyper delivery of drama. The CBI level enquiry that is addressed in movie is hardly shown, perhaps more enquiry is shown of an hawaldar driver Sunil Grover. Information about the people working under Gabbar is hardly shown which appear as weak actors. Rather than creating a national issue and executing it in such a poor manner, a revenge story rotating around the character would have been nice. I did felt like walking away most of the time.

After the success of Rowdy Rathore and the recent Holiday Akshay returns with yet another south remake. This time of A R Murgadose's Ramana(2002) which was remade in Telugu as Tagore. The film is directed by A south director Krish who makes his directorial debut in Hindi films. The film more or less replicates the original Ramana and is hardly different, except perhaps Akshay's look which is not like the original. Also he has no children in this film. The film is quite crisp and watchable but at times drags and also it's predictable. Also the director succumbs to the need of adding an item song, over the top action. Direction is okay Music is nothing great except Teri Meri Kahaani Stunts are over the top yet Akshay does make it most look believable. Akshay Kumar after the riveting BABY is back with a south remake and he does well in his role but it's nothing new, yet must say Akshay can carry off action scenes flawlessly and can give younger aspirants a run for their money Shruti Hassan in a stupid role is hardly convincing and annoys Suman Talwar as the villain is yet another addition to the list of South villains with dubbed voices making an entry and he is hardly worthy enough Sunil Grover leaves a mark in his role, Kareena Kapoor makes a fleeting appearance in a song, Jaideep Ahlawat is good as the cop rest are all okay

Gabbar is back is an action film with a social theme. But if you compare this film with previous Akki's social action films like Holiday and Baby then it is inferior to them. The theme of the movie is noble but its presentation is weak. The biggest problem here is the impuissant and predictable plot which has not been developed nicely. The movie raises the topic of corruption but the script of this movie itself is corrupt and heavily borrows from various movies of the genre. The script is not good enough to sustain this movie and its serious and thought provoking content. The plot also contains some loopholes.Still the entertainment quotient of the film is high,so it manages to engage you for 2 hours. The scene in the hospital, kidnapping of villain etc. are some scene which has been executed nicely. Akshay is a dynamite and if you want to know why then just watch this movie. His look and dialogue delivery is unblemished. He looks very agile in action scenes and due to his friskiness the beyond belief action sequences looks so persuasive and reliable.Shruti dances well but has nothing to do in this movie.Kareena is unexceptional in a small cameo.Sunil grover was superb.I liked his acting as he acts so believably.Jaideep was ordinary.Suman does the same things he had done before. Direction of the movie is nothing special and is ordinary. While watching the movie,i felt like i am watching a dubbed south Indian movie.Music of the film is good. The item song is sizzling.Action choreography is awesome as the action sequences are very good.Editing is also good.If a little attention was paid to the script, then the movie would have been more sharper and tenser. The climax of the movie looks like a forced one.Still the movie manages to convey the message to the audience while not being too preachy. Gabbar is nothing new but is passable flick due to its well choreographed action scenes,Akshay's amazing acting and its fast paced screenplay. If you are a fan of Akki then its a MUST WATCH for you.Otherwise its just an above average action flick which is a treat for mas-ala and hardcore action lovers. The movie was supposed to be a hard hitting social drama but fizzles due to its feeble writing. 6.3 out of 10 is enough.

GABBAR IS BACK- From start it was clear that the concept would be good as the movie was a remake of south Indian film which although i haven't seen but had been directed by A R Murgadass who always makes conceptual movies. But the fact is that Murgadass could have been the only director who can pull of commercial Masala action movies having strong messages. Unfortunately he didn't directed the bollywood version. In place of him we got KRISH another south Indian director who although have given some good movies to south India but doesn't know the nerves of Bollywood audience. As a result we get a movie which would look totally a South Indian flick if Akshay Kumar was not playing the lead role. The Director and specially the screen play writer should have given extra effort to transform it to Bollywood. The story was simple, a man or you can say an organization fighting against corruption which the trailers shows , and the way of their fighting was not Gandhi type rather they go Bhagat Singh way. This is not the first movie which shows angry hero fighting against the corruption so with the plot you didn't get anything new. In fact you didn't even get special Akhsay Kumar jokes to get entertain(BABY being a non commercial serious film had Much more jokes on both quantitative and qualitative basis). If you ask whats there to watch in this one , then i would suggest two of the most highlighted things of the movie. First one would be the HOSPITAL sequence in which Akshay plays a little game to bring out the corrupt Doctors. And 2nd one would be SUNIL GROVER in the whole movie(remember Gutthi from Comedy With Kapil). Mr. Grover is full of talent , and that too not only in the department of comedy but also as an honest cop who doesn't get enough recognition , trying to make his special place in the Police department . Akshay in the action (obviously) and non action scenes was good. But here also he was doing the same thing he has been doing from years. Don't ask about the women characters as they have been ignored totally by the script. I am shocked with the casting directors who cast Shruti Haasan (a very average actress) in the lead role and Kareena Kapoor (a really talented actress who even had a great chemistry with Akshay in the past) in a cameo. Same goes for Villains who were not good enough for being the topic of discussion , nobody in the movie even gave a good competition to Gabbar. Gabbar has achieved everything with ease as per his plan. Songs were not too many in amount (only three in the movie) and two of them are beautifully picturized (except KUNDI MAT KHADKAO RAJA which was badly picturized , written and performed). And yes , thankfully the running time is short so one thing that it doesn't do is making you bore. If i would compare this to any other Masala action entertainers with big star then i would say Singham Returns was a little better then this. Now its time for Akshay to understand that he is wasting his acting talent in average movies. 6/10. By ANuP APu KuMaR

If one may recall (not necessarily though) last year 'Ungli' tackled the been-there-done-that theme…
If one may recall (not necessarily though) last year 'Ungli' tackled the been-there-done-that theme of one man/group standing up against corruption. Idea was a swell one, but due to poor presentation and lazy writing, it bombed badly at the box office. Now, this year, Akshay Kumar comes up with another movie, based on this very theme, called 'Gabbar Is Back'. Not only is it a remake of the Tamil blockbuster movie 'Ramannaa', starring Vijaykanth, but Akshay Kumar's latest flick, though is preachy, yet provides you amples of entertainment. This is the only Akshay Kumar movie, which is an entertaining remake of a South-Indian movie. Last year he came up with a South-Indian movie remake called 'Holiday - A Soldier Is Never Off Duty', which had left a bad after effect on my mind. Without further yak-yak, let's analyse the plot. The film starts off with the very righteous man Professor Aditya (Akshay Kumar) and his tryst with corruption. He is on a mission to infuse a sense of purpose and hope amongst his students in 'National College', the place where he teaches the five elements of survival, in both, theory as well as practicals! Besides being a professor, he is also a vigilante who functions under the name of 'Gabbar'. He and his team inject fear amidst the corrupt officers. The main mission of his team is to eliminate the corrupt individuals, from all the spheres of life, but... in a systematic manner. When he's not bashing up the bad guys, Prof. Aditya also finds time to go on coffee dates with Devaki (Shruti Haasan). There is also a back story of Aditya that finds him romancing his wife (Kareena Kapoor Khan in a cameo) and how tragedy strikes him, courtesy industrialist Digvijay Patil (Suman Talwar). While the laidback police officials are unable to nab Gabbar, it takes an enterprising 'English speaking' constable Sadhu (Sunil Grover) to get the vital clues and leads about the whereabouts of Gabbar and his team. The only problem with Sadhu is that, because he is a 'driver', none of his superiors take him seriously and always belittle him. Amidst all this, when the police and the government land up in a very tight spot because of their inability to nab Gabbar, they hire a razor-sharp topcop, who vows to nab Gabbar at any cost. And when he sees Sadhu's clues of nabbing Gabbar, he immediately offers him all the support that he needs. Do the police and government ever get to know the real 'Gabbar', do they decipher the reason behind these killings, will Sadhu land up playing a spoilsport in Gabbar's master plans or does Gabbar who has been exposing the corrupt, will himself come out before everyone and 'expose' himself... is what forms the rest of the film. Well, even though Krish is making his debut in Bollywood, with 'Gabbar Is Back', it's not an over-statement to say that he has remade the original Tamil movie, originally written and directed by A. R Murugadoss ('Ghajini', 'Holiday - A Soldier Is Never Off Duty' fame), with dexterity. After analysing his career as a director in Telugu movie Industry, with commercial success like 'Gamyam' and the critically acclaimed 'Vedam', this cements the fact that, when it comes to movie-making, he means business. Hats off to you Krish. Off the crew, as stated the story (originally by A. R. Murugadoss) is nothing new. But the fast-paced-screenplay and Gabbar Singh-laden dialogues (written by Rajat Arora) add life to this story. Often it becomes preachy, as mentioned above, especially in scenes where Akshay Kumar's character gives lectures. But not only it entertains us for most of the part, it also pays homage to the original Gabbar Singh, whom we miss the most (thanks to those dialogues, originally mouthed by the real Gabbar Singh - late Amjad Khan). There are a few blemishes, and I would like to mention that the villain's characterization is similar to that of those Villainous characters portrayed by Prakash Raj. He looks ferocious in the beginning, ends up as a cat, especially in the climax. Please future Bollywood screenwriters, focus on maintaining the consistency of the villain's character, in the movies. Moreover, the direction (Krish) is first rate. Cinematography (Nirav Shah) is adequate. Music (Sandeep Chowta) is just forgettable. Background Score (Amar Mohile) is pulsating. Editing (Rajesh Pandey) is at times loose, due to those dragging songs. Costumes (Rick Roy, Garvita Bhatia) are authentic. Stunts (Stun Shiva) are over-the-top. Visual Effects (Reliance Media Works) is adequate. Off the cast, Kareena Kapoor Khan leaves a lasting impression, in a brief cameo. Shruti Haassan is at her usual best, portraying a birdbrained-bimbo. Suman Talwar has a Prakash Raj-like Déjà -vu to his acting skills. Chitrangada Singh looks gorgeous, in an item number. Nikitin Dheer, Jaideep Ahlawat, Sunil Grover and Govind Namdeo gave their best. But, it's undoubtedly Akshay Kumar, who steals the show away, with his power-wala performance. I rate this a 6/10. Had the screenplay been a bit faster, and avoided the preachy tone, and the unwanted songs, it could've been better. But since it is not entirely bad, it's just a one-time watch. Don't expect it to linger in your memories for long.

Akshay Kumar is making so much sensible movies nowadays. Holiday, Baby and now "Gabbar Is Back" with a bang. This is a story of Aditya/Gabbar (Akshay Kumar), a lawyer's assistant and the hero's romantic interest Shruti (Shruti Haasan), a lowly but ambitious constable Sadhuram (Sunil Grover), a swaggering CBI officer Kuldeep Pahwa (Jaideep Ahlawat) and a villainous real estate tycoon Digvijay Patil (Suman Talwar). This movie will give you something to think upon..which young generation need to actually , we can't just ignore corruption. To stop it , we need to fight it not ignore it.Kinda ...exciting movie . Overall everybody's acting was good .Songs not so nice , but since that's not a love story so songs doesn't matter much. There is a scene where an auto wala returning change to Shruti telling ..there is no need for extra money since ..nobody is asking for extra money i.e bribe..Best line was that I guess in the complete movie. It gives a glance of the perfect society, if corruption stops. As a whole I liked it and would suggest you all to watch it.
