Suriya postpones Kanguva for Rajinikanth starrer Vettaiyan: “When it comes to honoring a legend, nothing else matters”

Tamil actor Suriya has announced the postponement of his highly anticipated film, Kanguva. The decision comes in light of the upcoming release of Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan, both films initially scheduled for the same release date on October 10. Addressing a gathering at his brother Karthi's film launch, Suriya expressed his admiration for Rajinikanth, a cinematic icon who has been a towering presence in Tamil cinema for over five decades. He acknowledged Rajinikanth's immense contribution to the industry and the reverence he commands among fans.

“It is a privilege to share the screen with such a legendary actor,” Suriya said. “Rajinikanth sir has been an inspiration to countless aspiring actors, including myself. His dedication, his charisma, and his unparalleled talent have made him a household name.”

 

Suriya emphasized that postponing Kanguva was a conscious decision made out of respect for Rajinikanth and his film. He explained that Vettaiyan holds a special place in the hearts of Tamil cinema enthusiasts, and he wanted to ensure that the film receives the attention it deserves. “The decision to postpone Kanguva was not easy,” Suriya admitted. “The film has been a labour of love for over two and a half years, with countless individuals working tirelessly to bring it to life. But when it comes to honouring a legend like Rajinikanth sir, nothing else matters.”

 

Suriya assured his fans that the postponement would not diminish his excitement for Kanguva. He described the film as a "special project" that he is incredibly proud of. He promised that when the film finally hit theatres, it would be worth the wait. “I am confident that Kanguva will live up to the expectations of our fans,” Suriya said. “It is a film that we have poured our hearts and souls into. I believe it will be a memorable cinematic experience.”

 

Furthermore, it marks the Tamil debut of Bobby Deol and Disha Patani with the former playing the lead antagonist. Directed by Siva, this one too will be released in multiple languages including Hindi.
