Jana Nayagan: Tamil Nadu Police detain key suspect in the Thalapathy Vijay starrer leak case
The investigation into the Jana Nayagan leak controversy has taken a significant turn, with the Tamil Nadu Cyber Crime Cell reportedly detaining a key suspect in connection with the unauthorized circulation of footage from the highly anticipated film. According to officials, the latest development marks a major breakthrough in a case that has remained under the spotlight for several months.
The suspect was reportedly taken into custody on June 10 as part of an ongoing probe into the leak. With this latest detention, the total number of individuals arrested or questioned for their alleged direct or indirect involvement in the case has risen to 19. Authorities are continuing their efforts to trace the source of the leaked content and determine how the footage was accessed and distributed.
The controversy first came to light in April when a case was officially registered following the circulation of leaked footage from Jana Nayagan. The leak added to the challenges already surrounding the film, which has reportedly been facing hurdles related to its certification and release process.
The case also drew attention after editor Pradeep E. Raghav found himself at the centre of the controversy. Reports suggested that he was removed from the project after allegations surfaced regarding his association with a freelance editor who was not registered with the editors’ association. However, subsequent developments indicated that the freelance editor had reportedly maintained that Raghav had no involvement in the leak itself.
As investigations progressed, law enforcement agencies expanded their inquiry, examining multiple individuals linked to the film’s post-production process and digital workflow. The latest arrest is being viewed as a crucial step in the effort to identify the chain of events that led to the leak.
Jana Nayagan has remained one of the most talked-about Tamil films in recent months. The project holds particular significance as it is expected to be the final film of actor-turned-politician Vijay, now known as Chief Minister Joseph Vijay. The star had previously announced his decision to step away from acting in order to focus on his political commitments.
Directed by H. Vinoth, the film features an ensemble cast including Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol in prominent roles, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Despite strong anticipation among fans, the film continues to remain without a confirmed release date.
With the investigation still underway and fresh arrests being made, industry observers will be closely watching how the case develops and whether it impacts the eventual release plans of Jana Nayagan.
