Gladiator II Trailer: Paul Mescal channels Maximus Decimus Meridius in fiery face-off against Pedro Pascal and Denzel Washington in Ridley Scott's action-packed glimpse, watch

It's been over 20 years since the first Gladiator film arrived in theatres back in 2000, and this year, filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to helm Gladiator II, except this time Paul Mescal and Pedro Pascal headline the movie. Paramount Pictures on Monday debuted the first poster of the film slated for release on November 15 in India, which sees Paul Mescal prepare for battle.

In the film following up Scott’s classic historical epic from 2000, which won five Oscars from 11 nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Russell Crowe, Mescal plays Lucius, son of Lucilla (Connie Nielsen) — the second daughter of Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius — who now is a grown man in a story taking place years after the first film ended.

Joining Mescal and Pascal in the film's stellar ensemble cast are Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Lior Raz, Derek Jacobi, Nielsen, and Denzel Washington. With such an impressive lineup, Gladiator II promises to be an epic continuation of the beloved historical saga.

 

From legendary director Ridley Scott, Gladiator II continues the epic saga of power, intrigue, and vengeance set in Ancient Rome. Years after witnessing the death of the revered hero Maximus at the hands of his uncle, Lucius (Paul Mescal) is forced to enter the Colosseum after his home is conquered by the tyrannical Emperors who now lead Rome with an iron fist. With rage in his heart and the future of the Empire at stake, Lucius must look to his past to find strength and honour to return the glory of Rome to its people.

 

The film makes its way to cinemas in India on 15th November in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu in 4DX & IMAX!
