Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s look as the transgender in director Akshat Ajay Sharma’s Haddi left everyone in awe. But the audience wasn’t the only one to get stunned by the actor’s look. Nawazuddin himself too was overwhelmed when he looked at himself in the mirror after donning the look for the first time, as revealed by Raadhika Nanda. She is the producer of the film along with Sanjay Saha.

“We used 80 sarees on Nawazuddin Siddiqui during the entire shoot of Haddi,” reveals producer Raadhika Nanda

Sharing the whole process of getting Nawazuddin in the look of a transgender, Raadhika said in a statement, “It was very difficult as he (Nawazuddin) wore (the) saree for the first time. It used to take nearly 30 mins to drape a saree and about 3 hours to form his entire look every day, including make-up, hair etc. Above all, he used to shoot for hours in the same saree look. We used prosthetics in the process too, but the idea was to keep the look more natural as possible.”

Raadhika added, “We used around 80 sarees during the entire shoot. Nawazuddin was very overwhelmed looking at himself in the mirror for the first time since he has never seen himself like that, which helped him to feel his character closely. He understood how difficult it is to be a woman to get up every day, in that attire and do household chores. It took us nearly six months to achieve the looks after going through several make-up artists.”

As per the makers, Haddi is all set to release in the end of June.
