Box Office: Bholaa heading towards a respectable lifetime, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar is still playing on

Third week into theatres and Bholaa is all set for a respectable lifetime at the box office. The film was of course a straightforward contender of being a 100 Crore Club entrant and after watching the film it seemed like Rs. 125 crores was there for the taking. However, the Ramzan period meant that a large volume of mass audience in the interior didn’t really step in and then there is IPL too which is proving entertainment during the evening and night.

One may argue that IPL was factor till 3 years back as well during pre-pandemic and films used to do well. Agreed, but the OTT penetration as well as consumption of entertainment on the small screen or mobile phones has increased manifold during this time period and viewing habits have changed. That’s the reason why theatres have seen only one blockbuster this year in the form of Pathaan because it was special. Bholaa too could have accumulated far better and while it has collected Rs. 80 crores.* so far, it would eventually close around the Rs. 90 crores mark which would be respectable.

 

As for Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, it is actually beyond respectable and in fact is rather good. Currently standing at Rs. 145.50 crores*, the film is currently in its sixth week and managed to hang in there well. For the youth, the film stays on to be the first choice till date and that shows in good occupancy that’s being witnessed especially during the weekend at the core multiplexes of the major cities. The film will eventually close in Rs. 148-149 crores range though some push could help it scrape through Rs. 150 crores milestone as well.
