Business gets unpredictable... again!

 

Film business is getting inconsistent with each passing week. The impressive box-office figures of QUEEN and RAGINI MMS-2 brought abundant cheer in an otherwise gloomy scenario, but it was back to square one last Friday. The unexciting start at the ticket window of YOUNGISTAAN, O TERI and DISHKIYAOON, belonging to varied genres, came as a rude shock for sure. The business was lackluster across the board, despite the makers/Studios going that extra mile to promote the films in question.

On one hand, QUEEN continues to lure spectators to cineplexes in its fourth weekend, while RAGINI MMS-2, in its second weekend, continues to draw a fair share of viewers at single screens. Sadly, the audience's lackadaisical attitude towards the three new releases was all too obvious, although YOUNGISTAAN did witness an upward trend over the weekend. However, one expected more in terms of numbers, since the film is strong in merits and was backed by a strong word of mouth by those who watched it.

 

Is the audience waiting to spend their hard-earned money on movies slated for release during the summer vacations? The forthcoming weeks seem exciting, with MAIN TERA HERO, BHOOTHNATH RETURNS and 2 STATES slated for release in three consecutive weeks. Let's hope the cash registers start jingling again. Fingers crossed!
