WHAT A WASTED OPPOPRTUNITY !!! That's the first thing that comes to mind when the end credits roll of this 2.5 hours movie. Director Soham Shah's second outing after the terrible Kaal, is Luck. A word we're not allowed to forget during every frame of the movie. The script had it been fine tuned, had solid potential to be a gripping thriller. But alas, it falls flat on its face and reads like C grade hollywood flick - which isn't saying much..
The problem with luck lies in its treatment. Style and visuals are meant to compensate for a no brainer of a script (courtesy Soham Shah). The action sequences which are supposed to be the highlight of this film, are woefully inadequate with pyro dominating the show. Ropes, wires and then some more ropes and wires (Kindly reinvent yourself Mr Allan Amin). The music is hummable but doesn't really contribute.
Now coming to the performances - Sunjay Dutt sleepwalks through a role he's done a dozen times before. Imran Khan is suffering from his 'KIDNAP' hangover. If he continues this way, he has a solid chance of being this generations Sunil Shetty. Atleast that guy's improved!! Shruti Haasan - lovely screen presence but an absolutely wrong choice for a debut vehicle because there's no scope for acting. Can't really blame her. Stalwarts, Mithun & Danny are dependable. Chitrashi rawat & Ravi Kishan are the 2 people who lend some credibility to their respective roles.
I tremendously enjoyed listening to the foreigners speak Hindi. Considering that the movie's premise is set in betting on a global scale, the fact that practically every conversation, be it with a foreigner or Indian is done in Hindi, kind of makes me proud to be an Indian...
To summarise, if you want to watch an absolute gripper of a movie, i recommend that you rent A Wednesday instead of wasting money on this opulent mess of a movie. You know what they say, third time's a charm. Hope it turns out 'Lucky' for you Mr.Soham Shah.. Pun Intended.
