SANJU: Ranbir Kapoor opens up about reuniting with Sonam Kapoor 10 years after Saawariya

The much-awaited trailer of Rajkumar Hirani's Sanju has released and offers an intriguing mix of all possible emotions. The gripping trailer gives an insight into every phase of Sanjay Dutt's life. The trailer, featuring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead, touches upon various aspects like drugs, girlfriends and his much talked about jail phase. While the audience knows of the events in the actor's life, Rajkumar Hirani provides the story behind every event of his life.

Sonam Kapoor is reuniting with her Saawariya co-star Ranbir Kapoor in Sanju. The two actors began their careers as assistants to Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Black. Then, after their debut in Saawariya, this is their reunion film. At the trailer launch in Mumbai on May 30, Ranbir and Sonam were asked about how it was working with each other after 10 years. She said she was delighted to work with Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra's ambitious project Sanju. Sonam said, "I wanted to work with Vidhu sir so I said yes, I wanted to be a part of his production. I am very happy to work with Ranbir after 10 years," she added.

Ranbir Kapoor also resonated with her Sanju co-star's thoughts and said, "We worked 10-11 years before. Sonam is the same. She has become an even better actress. She looks exactly as she did during Saawariya."

The makers of Sanju have been very tight-lipped about the actors and which real-life characters they are essaying in the film. The earlier reports had speculated that Sonam is either essaying the role of Sanjay Dutt's Rocky co-star and then-girlfriend Tina Munim or probably Madhuri Dixit. While Sonam had said that she is not playing any actress, her role has left fans curious. At the trailer launch, Rajkumar Hirani did not disclose who she was essaying but revealed she is playing one of the 308 girlfriends.

With Sonam Kapoor, Rajkumar Hirani is all set to give the audience glimpses into the crazy, controversial love life of Sanjay Dutt in the 80s. While instances from his love life made headlines in the 80s and 90s, the film promises to present the lesser known instances of Sanjay Dutt's trysts.

Sanju trailer presents a dramatic and enigmatic saga of Sanjay Dutt. Coming from a family of cinema legends, he himself became a film star, and then saw dizzying heights and darkest depths: adulation of diehard fans, unending battles with various addictions, brushes with the underworld, prison terms, loss of loved ones, and the haunting speculation that he might or might not be a terrorist.

Written and directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film will also star an ensemble cast in addition to Ranbir Kapoor which includes Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Vicky Kaushal, Sonam Kapoor and Dia Mirza amongst others. Produced by Vinod Chopra Films and Rajkumar Hirani Films in association with Fox Star Studios, Sanju is all set to be released on 29th June 2018.
