After the 2012 thriller KAHAANI, Sujoy Ghosh returns with the second instalment in the franchise, KAHAANI 2: DURGA RANI SINGH. Featuring Vidya Balan and Arjun Rampal in lead roles the film is a dark thriller that promises to deliver rollercoaster ride. But will name of the film act as hook for the masses live up to expectations raking in the moolah at the box office is question.
Reports suggest that KAHAANI 2 has opened on a slow note, with occupancy rates during morning shows being pegged at 25%. The low opening can be put down to the fact that the film features no big name in the cast, lacks proverbial Bollywood music that usually helps propel any release and caters to a rather niche segment of audience. However, considering the positive reviews the film has across the board, and that the title of the film will in essence act as hook to entice the audiences the film’s business is expected to grow.
On the whole, KAHAANI 2 that boasts of a good story, screenplay and engaging plot twists will have to rely on word of mouth. Much like its predecessor, the box office collections KAHAANI 2 are expected to grow steadily as the weekend progresses.
