Raaz Reboot has opened on expected lines. The Emraan Hashmi starrer was reasonably promoted and was relying primarily on the single screen business. Though franchise factor was in the favor of the film, the fact that both Emraan Hashmi and Vikram Bhatt were arriving with a few commercial disappointments behind them meant that the advantage was evened out to an extent. Hence, the expectation was for Raaz Reboot to at least match the numbers of Emraan's last release, Azhar.
This is what exactly happened as Raaz Reboot brought in Rs. 6.3 crore on its opening day. Now these bare the exact same numbers that Azhar had registered on its first Friday. This Mukesh Bhatt and T-Series film has an advantage of controlled costs though, and also the fact that Vashu Bhagnani had procured the film for distribution at a competitive price. This means even if these numbers are maintained well over the weekend and then a decent hold is maintained during the weekdays, Raaz Reboot should turn out to be a win-win situation for all involved.
The film has seen mixed reviews coming its way though and audience word of mouth is not as fantastic as was the case with Raaz 3. However, that film had turned out to be a blockbuster with collections going over the Rs. 70 crore mark. This isn't really the need for Raaz Reboot to emerge as a successful affair due to costs involved. Moreover, single screens are doing better business than multiplexes and in these territories, reviews from critics don't really make much of a difference in the final tally. As long as the audience feedback is more than decent, the hold is expected to be there.
All eyes are now on the collections that Raaz Reboot brings in today and tomorrow.
