Given the fact that Secret Superstar released on Diwali, it was expected that Secret Superstar would open in Rs. 3-4 crore range. After all, this is supposed to be one of the dullest days for theaters as people are busy with celebrations. However, some out there in the industry were (surprisingly) hopeful that the opening would be much bigger than that. Well, that was never going to happen despite the kind of screen size that the Aamir Khan production was enjoying. Moreover, point to be noted is that this is not a true hardcore commercial entertainer and was always going to be dependent on word of mouth.
This is the reason why the number of Rs. 4.80 crore that the film has earned on its first day is decent enough since from this point on it has scope to grow further. Also, even this number is a testimony to the fact that the marketing push during the last 10-15 days especially has given the film a good enough boost because from this point on it is going to be huge competition ahead, what with Golmaal Again playing on screens as well.
Word of mouth of this Zaira Wasim film is largely positive and though it is not extraordinary or exemplary, it is still above average at the least. This would ensure that numbers that come over the weekend would be somewhere in the vicinity of Rs. 30 crore. For a film of this genre and subject, this would be a good number. However, since the film has been released on a huge count of screens , there is potential to score much bigger and that would be known once Secret Superstar enters weekdays.
