Now 'Anwar' postponed!

A few days ago, we told you that the makers of KUDIYON KA HAI ZAMAANA had postponed the release of the film by one week, from 29th December, 2006 to 5th January, 2007. Well, another film that was slated for release on 29th December, ANWAR, has also been postponed to January… 12th January, to be precise.
What prompted the postponement? “We weren’t getting the right outlets [multiplexes/theatres] for our film,” ANWAR director Manish Jha called to explain, “The best of theatres/multiplexes are blocked already. We were forced to push the film ahead. We spoke to our distributors and explained the predicament. They agreed, so it’s 12th January now.”
Jha is supremely confident of ANWAR. “It’s much better than my debut film MATRUBHOOMI. Looking at our confidence in the product and in view of the fact that we’ve spent a sizable chunk on promoting the film, we didn’t want to jeopardize the prospects by giving it a wrong release. Hence, the postponement,” Jha states.
