Over-cautious? Click here to add this article to My Clips

By Taran Adarsh, December 26, 2006 - 03:35 IST

Any other actor in his place would be shouting and screaming from rooftops to grab attention. Despite the fact that VIVAH is a huge hit [in fact, one of the biggest hits of Rajshri], Shahid Kapoor continues to maintain a low profile. As a matter of fact, the talented actor hasn’t signed a single film yet, except for the Ramesh Sippy-produced film with Nana as his co-star [directed by Rohit Shetty].

“Where are the good films?” Shahid laughs. On a serious note, the actor tells me, “I am keen to get back to studios, but the project should excite me. I need to be convinced first. I am meeting people, I am reading scripts, but I am in no hurry to grab any and every film offered to me.”

Isn’t he being over-cautious? Moreover, there are whispers that he has hiked his fee [Rs. 2.5 crores?] after VIVAH. “Honestly, my priority is to do the right project. As far as money is concerned, it’s important. I am not denying that. But what’s more important is a good project. Money will follow. Through films. Through stage shows. Through events. Of course, the fee [remuneration] will be revised. It happens with a hit. But it’s not the figure you just quoted,” Shahid responds.

Right now, Shahid is basking in the glory of VIVAH. “It has found tremendous appreciation. I was thrilled when I saw the rating in the ‘Top 5 charts’ of IndiaFM yesterday. I knew it was doing well, but so well? I couldn’t have asked for more,” he smiles.
